I have a bunch of cysts on my ovaries (really little ones) that don't really do much of anything but cause pain at times. Pregnancy has oddly enough made them feel better. Whenever I had my periods it would hurt the most.

I as of now have a HUGE cyst on my left ovary, but I knew something was different with this pregnancy. I unlike most women had severe pain and discomfort with my cyst. It was so large you could see it and even feel it from outside of my stomach. It was also so large it affected my kidney function on the left side. It was pressing on my kidney so much, that the kidney was not able to function correctly.

I had several ultrasounds for the cyst and even have a dvd of an ultrasound, the thing is HUGE! About the size of a softball. I still at 13 weeks pregnant have the cyst, it has shrank some, but still the size of a baseball and you can still see it from outside of my stomach. There are many types of cysts, the one I have is very common in pregnancy and is called a Corpus Luteum. It is very common to have ovarian cysts during the first trimester and some even go until after the birth of your child. Most cysts do not cause harm to the baby or pregnancy, and almost 100% of women with an ovarian cyst can go on to having a full term pregnancy and healthy baby.

I actually had a cyst on my right ovary when I first found out I was pregnant.  I am not sure if you are referring to one that already exists though.  For me it was a result of the pregnancy.  When the egg is fertilized the corpus luteum gets fluid filled and becomes a cyst which in turn provides the progesterone until the placenta takes over.  So for me it was a good thing to have.  The only thing they did for me was do an ultrasound about 2 times after finding it just to make sure it didn't grow too big.  It did not and started shrinking once the placenta started to take over.  Sometimes you can have pain from the cyst though which, as long as it's not severe and don't have bleeding, is normal.  So it should be ok they doctors may just do ultrasounds frequently to monitor the size.  Good luck.

I did have a cyct on my ovary. When I went in for the birth of my daughter. she didnt progress so I had a c-section. while in surgery they found the cyst and removed it. it was not cancerous just  a cyst, most women have them and they are not painful, you do not know you have 1 til the dr tells you and it can be removed.
