pregnancy

dear doctor,
i had toungue lump excision on 15th sept under general anaesthesia and i know i was pregnant by 16th  sept.when they did beta hcg before surgery it was 19,it was incolclusive.they gave me fentanyl,propofol,diclofenac sodium inj,alvacuram,oxynorm inj during the day of surgery.i was worried is this medication will have any problems with my pregnancy?pls advice......nirmi

Did they know u were pregnant before giving you all these medicines? If they were aware, then it should be ok, because they are supposed to know what they are doing. But if they didn't know you are expecting, then see the doctor, and let them know, they'll be able advice you on what the situation may or could be.. All the best :) xx

thank you dear.i had blood test in maternity hospital.they said its fine.i have a scan in 6 wks.

if your hcg was 19 then anything about 10 is considered pregnant that being said they should have known that you were expecting when they gave you those medications but I agree with Flavoured that you may still want to talk to your doctor about it to make sure that everything is still ok

Your hcg levels suggest you conceived a short time before the surgery and medications are unlikely to effect baby at that time (a placenta has not formed yet).  Check with your dr though.
