You shouldn't be taking the valtrex in the first trimester. It's unnecessary and will do absolutely nothing. They'll give it to you in the third trimester. 36 weeks is the general time period, but really it's whenever you ask for it. I demanded it at 7 1/2 months. My nurses were idiots. It will prevent you from having an outbreak at delivery. If you have an outbreak while in labor, baby can be born with it in their eyes which is why they would give you a c section.

Your child will be healthy even if you do have an outbreak by the time you deliver you will just have to have a c section

They will give u meds a month before ur due to avoid and out breaks. If u do have an out break theyll do a c section becait could be harmful to the baby coming out if an out break in present.
