I babysit my neice and she uses a pacifier and if she doesn't have it in her mouth she whines and cries like crazy. And she can't sleep without it. If she's sleeping and it falls out she screams. It's really frustrating to me. I think my sister in law is going to have a really hard time getting her to not use it in the future. She's way too dependent on it.
But honestly if yu decide not too yu need to let the nursing staff know. And when yu notice a change in staff let them know too or they will give baby one anyways without thinking about it .
I love pacifiers!! My daughter used them & now my little boy does too! Its soothing to them :)
Actually, pacifiers do not do anything to permanent teeth. Those are already present at birth and deep within so they are fine. Pacifiers can actually help babies by forming the soft palette which is a plus. There is really no fear of an infant or toddler using a pacifier regarding teeth. More of an issue to let them have a bottle at bedtime than a pacifier due to sugar on the teeth (found in milk).
Just wanted to clarify that.
My kids didn't use one but lots of infants love them. :>)
The only pro I could think of is help soothe them I have two girls alil boy on the way I haven't used one and won't be with him they can be hard to take away and as someone said they r easier to take away then the thumb that is true but the thing is don't let them suck their thumb either if they suck the pacifier til they get their teeth their teeth could end up crooked really bad they always want it and if u leave without one or lose it with no spare u will most likely regret it plus some of the other cons these ladies said I think the cons out weigh the pros but everyone is different just what u prefer
I plan on breastfeeding and I can't give my baby one or else it'll throw her off from wanting to breast feed. I do have some though just in case though!
I give my daughter Philips avents soothies. She's only allowed to have the paci during naps and bed time. I'm hoping it'll be easier to ween her off of it later.
I do just because it's a soothing technique . But honestly yu can plan on whatever giving one or not. Yu can choose too give a baby and the baby itself may not want it . But I'd say if the baby doesn't start to not want it by at least 1 I'd start to taking it away. My niece is now 2 and her mom had tryd to take it away but only does it every now and then so 90% of the time she has one for no reason . But when it comes to types I'd get all Kinds all brands. Because that is completely up to baby what he or she likes and dislike..
I think pacifiers can be a great soothing tool for baby. I gave one to my two babies. however, I found one draw back. When they were tiny, they would drift off to sleep with it in their mouth and then when it 'fell' out, they'd wake and cry. I found myself putting the pacifier back in during the sleep periods which I felt was not great for ME. ha. But both of my boys really stopped having any interest in it at around 6 weeks. We still gave it to them but they'd just spit it out. Neither became thumb s uckers either. So, it worked out alright. I used nuk brand. good luck
I never bothered with them. I breastfed and thought they were more trouble than they were worth. So my son made it through being an infant without one (;
I always give binkis to my babies. I use the ones from the hospital and so far mine have always just weened themselves off them. My son did it at 3 months, and my daughter did it at 6 or 7 months....they just stop taking them.
My lo loves her avent dummies :)
My daughter is 8 months old and her pacifier is her BEST FRIEND ! If she's upset it immediately calms her down, she sleeps through the night with it.. I have no cons as of right now, but she will only take the MAM brand pacifiers, and she will only use MAM brand bottles as well! :)
I'm thinking of giving tommy tippee orthodontic ones :) and up until his teeth come through properly
I'm at ftm and baby isn't born yet. I'm giving my baby a pacifier for a few reasons. 1 being that Pacifiers help reduce the risk of SIDs and 2 you can wean a baby off a pacifier. If the baby finds their thumb there isn't much you can do to wean them from that.
As far as style I have a few Pacifiers of different styles to see which style the baby takes to.
