proteinuria

I am 7 months pregnant and my protein in my  24 hr urine is 964. I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, but being controlled with insulin. Also, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. I am currently taking levodopa and adalat xl and my blood pressure is controlled with restricted activity (140's/80's). However, when I walk short distances ie: bathrrom or kicthen my blood pressure shuts up to 160's/90's and above. What should be my next step medically? I am being monitored weekly for my platlet levels and liver enzymes, I guess when those go abnormal I would be delivering my baby.

I agree with julianovak at the very least you should be on complete bed rest. Stay AWAY from salt and soda.

if you have a BP machine in your home I would check your bp a few times a day and if you start having any symptoms of preeclampsia call 911

the signs are listed here below

Hypertension
Swelling or Edema
Proteinuria
Sudden Weight Gain
Headache
Nausea or Vomiting
Changes in Vision
Racing pulse, mental confusion, heightened anxiety, trouble catching your breath
Stomach or Right Shoulder Pain
Lower back pain
Hyperreflexia

I would think your doctor wouldve put you on bed rest... or something like that. And protien in urine is usually a sign of Preeclampsia. ESPECIALLY with the HBP you have..... Im shocked as to why your doc didnt even mentian this to you???!!!!! Research it, im *almost* positive youve got preeclampsia, bc of Protien and HBP.
