Why do you have to take out piercings when you are in labor?

If they ask you to take themout, you should definitely take them out. Its just a precaution in case anything goes wrong and surgery or testing is needed to be done.

Just depends on hospital policy. Ask your doctor but I have heard that if you put in a plastic piece it should be fine. :) Good luck. I had to take out my lip ring and I was so sad.

Get a clear plastic piece for your nose and u should be fine.. For my surgery on my ovary in Oct I had the epideral and hadda take out everything I could including earrings.

I took my nipple ones out beginning of pregnancy, I have my lip one out just cuz I don't feel like wearing it, so the only one I'll be wearing when I go into labor is nose and ear rings... will they make me take them out?

They make you remove all of your jewelry bc if you were rushed to an emergency c sec they do not want to bother with trying to remove them and it is hospital policy bc of risk that no one go into surgery with any piercings or jewelry. Hope that helps :)

Had surgery in Oct the ones I struggled taking out they just put tape on them if I would a known that wouldn't have taken my ear ones out like my rooks was never able to put it back in .. Luckily my Marilyn Monroe struggled but made it back. And for birth I plan on takn my nipple ones out for good. It has to do w the metal and shocking prevention.

I had to take out everything for surgeries in the past, so I imagine its just a precaution incase anything goes wrong they dont wanna be responsible for pulling them out of you! I was told to take lip and nose ring out for surgery incase I needed oxygen, they didnt want to accidently knock it down my throat or nasal passage.

I had to takr mine out bc i was having a c-section and they said if i was to keep them in i could get shocked

What bout ear rings, nose rings, lip rings...its obvious why you would have to take out genital, nipples and belly button...
