I know smoking is bad for baby but I also kno a lot of stress is too... so which is worse? Me staying pissed off and angry and ready to pull my hair out? Or smoking 1 I repeat 1 cigarette to calm down? Cuz I'm about to start spinning my head and spewing green foam while pulling out my hair and telling the world to f off

Well I took a little of everyone's advice and lit one up but I only took 3 drags off of it and let the rest burn away I think it helped just the motion of smoking and haven't had a craving for one since but it did calm me down and helped me feel better I stopped crying and cussing and was able to talk thank u everyone :-)

I quit smoking at 13 weeks too (i was a pack a day smoker). I started sneaking a cig here and there around week 26 because of stress.  I maybe smoke (maybe) three a week. some weeks I don't touch one at all.  it to me is like an occasional beer to non-pregos after a stressful day.

I smoke every now and then just to keep myself from snapping at people, including my family. There are pack a day smokers who have had fine babies. I'd say go for it because its better on your baby than stress. Just don't over due it. And don't listen to these other ladies sayin don't do it! You'll hurt your baby! Nooo! They probably were never smokers and dont know what its like to experience stress without a smoke

Good job on quitting un the first place, id say if u can manage to have one cigerette and not start smoking again then giver! But just make sure it wont make u start up , my fuance has quit smoking so many times and if he slips up once then he usyally just slowly starts smoking again. But if u got the willpower to have only one it wont be that bad sone women smoke their whole pregancy

If u smoke one now u will wreck the progress u made as a non smoker. Even so much as 1 puff and ur back to square one. U will be sucked in and it will be 10 times harder tomorrow. And u will smoke again. I quit cold turkey 9 weeks ago at 5 weeks prego. I have cravings all the time but I would NEVER take even one puff. I quit before for seven years and had one puff and became a full blown smoker again. Its not worth it. I've quit... So I stay quit.

Take a walk or something or clean thats what i did to calm down if i wanted one. Smoking is not good for the baby. It gets alot better after 3 to 4 weeks.

Please do try not to smoke, its definitely not good for your or your baby. Take it one day at a time. There are plenty of things you could to to ease your mind. Go out, walk, yoga, chew gum, yell as loud as you want, anything that will stop you. I wish you the best of luck quitting, and a happy healthy baby.

Your body, your baby's! I'm not a smoker but if you need a cigarette do it!  There are other women that do hardcore drugs with their babies and by the grace of God the babies are fine. Stress is one of the worst things for a baby, emotional roller coasters are too! Especially for the both of you! Couple puffs a day keep mommy's stress away!

If you need a smoke have a smoke. Women do it everyday plus much worse unfortunatly. Just have a couple a day half a cig once your big. Youl feel the baby not liking it and it will make it easier to not want any. Stop stressing. Good luck.

Hi! Nicotine withrawal does cause stress and irritability but only for a short period (2-4 weeks), so you are beyond that already! (congrats, the worst is over). What you are experiencing now is more likely related to non-phisiological issues. I quit smoking a long time ago and what helped me the most was drinking cold water using one of those big plastic cups with a straw. It calmed me a lot since I was able to control the need to have something in my lips. Try that and use this as an opportunity to quit. It will only be good for you and baby! Good luck!
PS Read the Wikipedia piece on smoking cessation. Lots of interesting facts there.

I smoked 1-3 a day until about two months ago. I'm 28 Weeks today. stress made it very hard to quit. Eventually I got a really bad taste in my mouth and that was it. Take it slow and maybe have one to calm down.

Yeas it is bad to smoke during pregnancy but no one is perfect. In April 2011 when I found out I was pregnant I was almost a pack a day smoker. Then by 10 weeks I was down to 1 or 2 per day. There was also days I did not smoke at all. My doctor told me quitting cold turkey caused unneeded stress on baby and was better to do it slowly. In my opinion being under constant stress would be worse.
