I'm so sorry for your loss. When I went to my doctors due to back aches he checked for the babies heart beat first and then he checked my cervix to make sure it's not opening up. Sometimes cervix opens up way to early which causes a loss. When ur ready just make sure u take it easy n tell ur doctor u need ur visits often . I
i lost my daughter at 22 weeks last year, i went into preterm labor, she was breathing when she was born but didnt survive.
dr isnt sure if i start dilating, which let in an infection and that sent me into preterm or if i have an incompetent cervix, they just dont know
so this time around they put in a cerclage around 12weeks, before baby got big enough to effect a weak cervix as a precaution and started me on the progesterone shots at 16weeks
Hey i know what you're going through. Im sorry for your loss. I lost my son at 22 weeks. The reason is still unknown because I had a neglectful doctor who did no exams and didnt notice something was wrong until i went into labor. I got pregnant 4 months later and am now 27 weeks. What my new doctor has learned from my current pregnancy is that I probably had an incompetent cervix that started to open and dilate too early. So now I am taking progesterone injections once a week (which i started in my 16th week) and checks my cervix thoroughly each appointment. She noticed my cervix shortening at week 25 (which is to far a long for a cerclage) so she put me on hospital bed rest for the remainder of the pregnancy. She also has me on a medication to slow contractions. She is still expecting him to come early, around week 32 but he has a 96% chance of living at that point. Even if i give birth tomorrow he will still live, he will just be in the NICU for a couple of months. I hope my experience helps. This has definitely not been a normal or easy pregnancy but its well worth it and i consider it my second chance after losing my first son!
