recurrent miscarriage

I have recently suffered an ectopic and two miscarriages in the last 9 months.  How likely am I to have a successful pregnancy in the future?  What are the chances of this?  What can I do to best prepare myself for a future pregnancy?

Hello ladies,

I thank you both for your replies.  I did have an appointment with a specialist last Wednesday, at a top rate hospital.  I am hoping that these tests provide some results and that I, too, can go on to have a successful, healthy, full-term pregnancy.  It does really help to speak with other women who have undergone similar experiences.  I thank you both for sharing your stories with me and pray that the next time is really it.  Thank you for the reassurance and the positive words!  You have both made me feel much better.  I will definitely ask the specialist about the jr. aspirin and progesterone suppositories.  Thanks for the heads up...every little bit helps.  Lots of love to you both and best wishes for the future...mamaof4410- good luck on this current pregnancy!

Most women go on to have healthy pregnancies after a miscarriage. But if you are continuously having miscarriages you should see a doctor about why this is happening. I have had 2 mc's and my OB said if I would've had one more he would have sent me to a fertility specialist because of my age it made things a little more difficult. Best of luck to you and your family.

Hi,

so sorry to hear about your loss. Do you have children already or was this trying for first baby?
I lost my first 3 babies to anencephaly, blighted ovum and complete miscarriage before finally successfully having my daughter then 2 sons.
I know most hospitals won't even begin testing until you have had 3 miscarriages, which doesn't help any when you've lost your 3rd baby, which our hospital wouldn't, but we did have a fantastic consultant who recommended I take jr aspirin and progesterone suppositories from the moment I knew I was pregnant the 4th time. It may just be coincidence but it worked and I carried it on with each of my other pregnancies. The jr aspirin was to help the blood flow from the placenta and the progesterone was to help thicken the lining of my womb. Maybe speak to your gp and see if they can refer you to someone who could best advise you for the future.
I wish you all the best and hope you get a happy outcome soon!
