reoccurring miscarriages

I am a little over 4 weeks pregnant and have had 2 miscarriages in the last year ending at around 10 weeks with embryonic development ceasing at 8 weeks. The last pregnancy and this one have had low progesterone levels. I do not have a problem conceiving. My period is regular at every 33-35 days with ovulation happening at 15 to 17 days. I took prometrium (200 mg 2x daily) for the second pregnancy starting at 6 weeks and still miscarried. For this pregnancy the progesterone level is lower than the last at 5.4 with an HCG level of 27. I have another HCG test sched for tomorrow. I have a feeling this one will end the same as the others. This will make 3 miscarriages in a year!  I am 34 soon to be 35 and am very confused as to why this might be happening. I am frustrated and afraid. Any help would be appreciated.

i was in the same boat as you and Ovaz.  i had 2 missed miscarriages within 5 months of each other.  the second one i had the tissues tested, all was fine.  but my doctor sent me to a RE because he did say that it seemed odd to have 2 in a row like that.

so i went to the RE, and he ran lots of testing, all was normal but what he did do for safety reasons, he put me on progesterone supp and baby apsirin prior to me getting pregnant.

so we chose a month we wanted to start TTC and i had to use ovulation tests, when i got a positive one, 3 days later i started the prog supps 2 times a day and the baby aspirin i started immediatly.  you then of course have sex during ovualtion time and then you take a pregnancy test and go in for blood work when they tell you, if it is negative, they have you stop the prog to get your period and you try again next month, if it is positive, you continue til week 13.

i got pregnant again right away and so far so good.  i am now almost 17 weeks along and with my last 2 MC's, i did not  make it past 8 weeks.

get yourself an appointment with the RE if you insurance covers it.

I was not able to get the fetal tissue tested for my 1st preg cause the doctor said the insurance wouldn't pay for it and it was expensive. The second pregnancy I was rushed to the hospital and I did not have the mind or time to grab it. But I figure since this will be my third, if I am able to recover it, the insurance should pay. The new doctor I am going to said that they will start testing me once the pregnancy is over and they have RE doctors at the university hospital. I have a feeling at this point that it might be a ovarian reserve problem. I really hope not but I have been told that it is going to take some time to find out. If it is I will be the only woman in my family that cannot have children into my forties! I would have never guess:)

Sorry to hear that you have had 2 miscarriage this year.  I was in the same boat... Sept. 07 at 15 weeks, and March 08 at 6w4d.  I got pregnant in June and was told to take prometrium from week 10-13, although there is absolutely no data supporting the fact that prometrium (progesteron supplements) help maintain pregnancy or prevent a miscarriage.  So, don't completely rely on the prometrium.

I am 26 years old and even though my OB wanted me to wait to see if I had a 3rd miscarriage, I kind of looked at this as carnal torture!!!  So, I went ahead and made an appt. with an RE.  He agreed that I was pretty young to be having 2 miscarriage back to back.  Personally, I wouldn't mess around.  Try to make an appt. with a specialist who will monitor you more closely than your OB will.  Once you make it past a certain point (usually 10 -12 weeks) the RE will pass you along to your OB.

Did you have the tissue tested to find out why you miscarried those pregnancies?

hi i haven't ever experienced this however my sister did and they put her on dilutian that helped her it was a steriod however but it helped the baby develope so she could carry it. once they did that they took her off the medicines after her first trimester so it wouldn't cause any harm to the baby. well i wish you lots of luck
