Sorry 1st timer and I posted this in the wrong area.  I re-did on the main page.  I say be supportive but make sure she quits.  Smoking is bad all around.

I had a 6 week u/s and it shows 2 Saks and only one had a heartbeat.   My Dr said it's still early and both sacs show 6 weeks in size.  My next appointment is in 2 weeks and I'm anxious to know how common thus is.  Also if anyone else went through this I would like to know the outcome.   Twins?  1 baby?

I've smoked with all 3 of my kids all the way through delivery all 3 are perfectly healthy not saying it's good but if able to quit do so... I've been smoking since I was 17 it's extremely hard to quit I'm pregnant with my fourth and I have cut back but I still smoke

She probably hasn't hurt baby too much,  but she should definitely develop a very specific action plan to quit. It'll never work if she says "oh I'll just try to quit..." and hope for will power to kick in. I recommend going on the patch and asking doc to put her on Wellbutrin. It's an anti depressant, sometimes prescribed to help quit smoking. This combo should help w the physical part. She should also address the psychological aspect by having a plan for every time she is cueed to smoke.

I smoked w 2 of my kids pretty regular w the 3rd baby. My doctor also told me to slowly cut back until I was able to stop completely bc cold turkey could cause u to stress and will make the baby stress as well which can lead to miscarriage. Btw none of my kids came out unhealthy. I even had a 9 pound baby. Its not safe for the baby but u never know what your baby will come out w. Just gotta pray for a healthy baby and eventually try and quit. Its hard tho. Just tell her to keep the baby in mind and to let her doctor no that she is a smoker so they can keep a closer eye on the baby and her health.

I smoked until I was 28 weeks pregnant. My son is healthy and nothing is wrong with him. Remember back in the old days before women knew it was unhealthy to smoke and there kids all turned out fine. If she smokes she smokes. My great grandma smoked three packs a day with all tweleve of her children and they all turned out healthy kids and are in the fifties up. It all depends on what she thinks is right for her and her child. Low birth weight is the myth and I've seen my friend smoke during there pregnancy and have 9 pound babies so its up to your sister and her desicion. Because trust me it was hard to quit for me especially living in a house with smokers. Wish her luck.

Just quit. I smoked until I was about 10 weeks then it hit me one day that I had a baby in me and I quit cold turkey. And my baby is perfectly healthy. If u wait til the end of ur pregnancy to quit then it can hurt ur baby but as long as it's in the beginning of the pregnancy the baby will be fine

Well look at it this way she can smoke all thru her pregnancy n the baby end up healthy ive seen it but ive also seen the worst happen from it actually my niece she needs breathing treatments every few hours .....when u smoke cigs early its a 50_50 chance it will affect the baby or do nothing at all to the baby its just a chance now when the baby's lungs start to develop thats a different story u have a real high chance of sum being wrong but shes only 13 weeks ^^^^^ummmmm ive never heard if u smoke cigs not to stop cold turkey normally a doctor wants u to quick immediately so ill have to research that one
