I support smoking pot while pregnant... I used to smoke every day till I was 5 months then I weaned myself off cuz of testing after birth :/ ive never smoked out of a vaporizer so im honestly not sure but I assume it has the same results as smoking it out of a pipe or bong or sonething :p

Smoking weed for sick women during pregnancy is encouraged in some countries. Would you rather not eat and starve yourself and your child or eat? Answer is simple.  I suffer from hyperemesis and  I haven't smoked weed, but alot of people have told me to as ive lost over 10kg and I've only 17 weeks.

Smoking weed is a garanteed appetite that's for sure! I agree with above comment I bet docs would rather u smoke pot than starve u or ur baby.

Not that I'm against it or anything, but why would you starve yourself knowing you have a baby? Is it that you can't keep anything down, or just not hungry so you don't eat? Not bashing, just wondering.

I was smoking but some doctors will drug test you so I stopped. I'm not risking getting my baby taken from me.

I don't get it I'm quite confussed I'm in the uk surely you and your doctor should be aware that taking drugs in pregnancy can cause problems ok you can't eat so u need something to help u eat but there are all sorts of medication to help an appetite other than drugs !! I'd rather starv than think I was feeding my baby a habit !!

Personally I don't think a person who doesn't actually NEED to smoke should. I love smoking marijuana but I quit when I found out I was pregnant. I never got morning sickness though and I've had a very healthy pregnancy so obviously I don't need it. I support it though for women who can't keep a meal down or who simply don't want to eat because they will throw it up anyway. I think it's also great for treating prenatal depression. The way I see it is yes marijuana can cause a few (very few from what I've read) issues when the child is older. But the lack of food consumption causes premature birth and other issues and the depression can cause depression in young children (I've seen it in my own family, it happens). Just think about all the other medications we allow into our bodies that can cause birth defects or neurological challenges for the baby vs. smoking pot which has very very few side effects for the baby. The helpfulness of this herb really does outweigh the risk.. Especially compared to all the other "medications" we blindly pump into our bodies :)

Nooowwwww as for using a vape vs. using a pipe or bong or whatever. It's the same the only thing getting to ur baby is the thc the smoke has no effect on him/her that's all on your lungs, so enjoy your bong if that's what you want it's not any better or worse for baby.

Another thing to think about is the effects marijuana has on you while your trying to care for your infant.
With *me* and this is personal opinion and knowing myself I don't think I could COMFORTABLY care for my newborn while high, I've ne'er dropped anything while high or done anything really stupid but I also don't think that I would be comfortable taking care of my baby I mean what if something happens and I need to go to the doc or my baby starts crying and I can't figure out why. I think it would just cause me more anxiety..
If I start smoking again once I'm done breast feeding it'll be when I have a sitter :)

Btw I'm a very functional "stoner" I used to go to work high (I worked in a kitchen with one other person who also smoked) and we had a great system and never messed anything up so that's pretty high functioning. And I would also carry out a very active day while high I didn't just sit on the sofa and chill lol :)

Just my 2 cents ;)

@marindamqz it's because she can't keep anything down. @carlymarie1993 at least weed is a natural substance. There is NO evidence that weed harms an unborn child. And from personal experience, no you wouldn't starve yourself! I went 5 days with no food because of my hyperemesis and ended up in hospital because I couldn't keep anything down not even water. Not all pregnancies go smoothly, and not all mothers believe in conventional over the counter drugs. Would you not rather a natural drug in comparison to some concoction someone made in a lab?

Okay I see your point my first pregnancy was horrible I was being sick all the way through in and out of hospital. It I never turnt to drugs if it was FINE to take drugs whilst pregnant why are people worried that social servis will take there baby's it's a drug a drug that's not legal if your not pregnant let alone with a small person growing inside of u just my opinion

I'm not against it, to each their own. But I knw 3 sisters, 2 of which smoked through their pregnancy and 1 who didn't, and couldn't if she wanted to because it made her sick. 1 of the 2 who smoked has 3 kids, and the other has 2, the one who didn't smoke has 1. And let me just say, the 2 who did smoke, their kids are crazy all over the place with energy and getting into everything and horrible with listening and what not (which yes most kids are just being kids, but you would think they're working in fast forward x10) the one who didn't smoke her kid listens very well, not crazy all over the place just a normal kid. Marijuana has been linked to adhd, and this is prime example. And yes some is due to parenting, but one of the smokers basically raised the ones baby who didn't smoke because the mother was very sick at the time and going through chemo and what not, and that kid is normal compared to the ones who had parents smoking while pregnant. I mean to each their own, but I've seen the difference of smoking while pregnant and not smoking, and it is a huge difference.

It's illegal because the government can't make money on it. Why is smoking cigarettes legal? Its a FACT that it causes cancer, yet weed has NO known effects on the health of a human.

If I was to say I smoke cigarettes most women WOULDN'T  be botherd by it. If I was to say I smoke weed, most women WOULD be botherd. I don't understand how cigarettes isn't classed as a drug, it causes cancer! Yet studies have showed that smoking weed has helped cancer patients. I think it should be the other way around. Weed legal and cigarettes illegal

Weed should be legal for those who use it medically. But it still alters your brain whole you're high, classifying it as a drug. They say it's not addictive and what not, but you can become dependant on how it makes you feel and what not, which causes some people to have an addiction like reaction to it. I mean either way if it's legal or not people are going to ***** unfortunately.

no proven fact/studies that it is harmful.
theres alot of women out there who smoked during pregnancy, and have healthy children with noo problems.
who can judge this, when there's pple out there who do way worse like crack, heroin, meth, alcohol.. hardcore drugs !!
think about that

I smoked till I was about 7 months along. I would only take 4 hits of a blunt at most and only like 5 times within the month. I did it because I had bad anxiety anger and depression.. I needed to keep my sanity. Well my son is perfectly healthy.. I hope one day the legalize Marijuana all over the world. It's such a great thing honestly. Lol

I live in Wa it is legal to smoke here so the doctors are always testing, I don't have anything against smoking if it helps you after all it is a medical substance, I used to smoke about once every 2 months if that, and I smoked about 1 week before I knew I was pregnant at my first appointment I tested dirty and the doctors said they would be monitoring me for marijuana use during my pregnancy, I do not smoke during pregnancy so I don't mind, I rarely smoke anyways,

I use to smoke marijuana all the time with my husband before I found out I was pregnant & quit as soon as I found out. Unfortunately, my nausea was so bad I lost 15lbs in less than 2 weeks. My mom and Aunt encouraged me to start smoking again out of a pipe to help me keep food down. It only takes about 3 hits, I never overdid it to get high. I honestly can say I wasn't comfortable with it but I soon found that it did wonders! It literally takes the nausea away immediately and gives me an appetite. Still, I decided to quit and I am now almost 11 weeks. My nausea isn't as bad as long as I eat every 1.5-2 hours and my appetite has come back on its own. There are still days when I struggle and my husband recommends that I do it only when seriously needed instead of throwing up everywhere. My only issue is that the smell of marijuana stinks so bad to me now so I just choose to suffer. I would recommend the use of marijuana through a pipe or vaporizer over prescription drugs because the side effects are few to none. I just think you should quit before you reach your third trimester due to it being illegal (since the govt can't make a profit off of it yet!) and especially if you decide to breastfeed.

Sorry for the long post lol but yes, marijuana really does help!

I work with weed so I'm all for it. Most doctors will tell you to quit since they aren't open to the idea and prefer to be part of their medical agenda and feed you more traditional medicine.

I had really bad morning sickness, so bad I couldn't even take a drink of water with my nausea meds and I've always smoked weed before pregnancy for anxiety. I'm 32 weeks now and I quit around 27 weeks cuz I don't want CPS to take me bby. I think CPS is full of ignorant ppl because, like someone mentioned, if I were to be smoking cigarettes or drinking they wouldn't intervene but with THC showing up they want to take our babies cuz we're "unfit" to care for our kids. Smh
I'd say just quit in time to detox. And yes vaping or edibles is safer than smoking for the both of u :D
