big baby

I had a non stress today and all I got was an ultrasound to measure the fluids and how she's growing. Well she is measuring at 8pounds 1ounce. She's gonna be a big baby! Do you think my doctor will induce since it's my first baby and she's over 8 pounds already? I'm 40 weeks today.

Thanks ladies! Everyone is telling me not to get induced but at this point I'm so uncomfortable and she's so squished that I'm gonna ask my Dr on Thursday to schedule an induction for hopefully before Thanksgiving if she isn't here by then.

I have the same situation. At 35weeks, my baby was measuring 7lbs already. When I asked to be induced, was told the baby had to be 5kg(or 5 something) before they would consider it & my baby was only 3 something.

At my doctor's office, they schedule you for an induction around 41 weeks regardless of the baby's size, but all doctors are different. My son was 9 lbs. even when I was induced at 40+6 and my daughter was 9 lbs. 2 oz. when I was induced at 41+4. Yay for big babies! Lol

No :') i don't think so, they can be off up to 2 pounds from what i hear, not only that but 8 is a very nice size if you ask me! I'm expecting a big baby myself :') at 35 weeks they guessed his weight to be 6,13. When my mum had her first, normal birth my brother was 9 pounds. Hope this helps

I don't think they will induce unless they have to. I am a smaller girl started off at about 120lbs and gained 50 lbs. I gave birth to my son. He weighed 8 lbs 6 oz. And they never induced me. I was 2 days late.
