i usually drank caffeine free soda. but int he 3rd trimester all I wanted was cherry coke.. so i drank it.. my son is fine.. i wouldnt worry too much about it, as long as thats not the only thing your drinking. try powerade if water isnt settleing well..
I am a Diet Coke person myself. But I am actually opposite of Chantal, in that I get really sick my first trimester too. But the soda doesn't help me. I asked my doctor if I could have 1 Diet Coke a day and he said that was more than fine. Sometimes, I had 2. Sometimes I would try really hard to drink a caffeine free one or drink decaf tea. I have never had any problems and had 6 healthy babies!!!
The sugar content is something to watch too. One Pepsi has a lot of sugar.
That's true there are caffeine free soda Coke makes one just avoid the diet varieties. You can look right on the can of soda and it will tell you how much caffeine it contains or you can go online and check but one can per day is in the safe limit of caffeine intake :)
Its not so much the soda its the caffine you have to watch. Try caffine free brands, they arent too bad. I dont drink soda at all but I stopped drinking it in about 10 years ago as part of being healthier. Good luck.
Whenever I am pregnant, soda is all I can keep down and it settles my stomach. But there are days where I can drink water as well, but most times it makes me gag. My midwife told me, to just sip water throughout the day, as much as I can. Soda is fine in moderation of course, and I was told no more than a glass a day (of course some days I have more than that) I also try other things like lemonade with lots of ice or iced tea so I am no tempted to drink so much soda.
You should try to limit caffeine intake to 200mg or less per day. It is most important in the first trimester. Since you aren't in that period anymore it will depend upon what you are comfortable with. Everything you ingest the baby gets so if you are comfortable with your baby having soda that's cool if not than adjust accordingly. Either way it's not going to cause birth defects or fetal death or anything not at this point so not to worry :). I went through the same thing and limited myself to one can of coke per day. It really settled my tummy and helped a lot. I would pour it over ice to make it seem like more and last longer. I was about as far along as you when that craving hit too
