Laying on your back

Okay I know you're not supposed to lay on your stomach or back and the reasons for not laying on your stomach are pretty obvious. Why can't you lay on your back? Just curious. I'm 30w5d

My Dr told me I could sleep how ever I felt most comfortable. . That if I lay on my back il change positions on my own before it would do any damage because itl make me uncomfortable... I'm 32 weeks and sleep on my back sometimes not often because usually I can't breath but sometimes I can handle it and sleep like that for alil bit to give my hips a break

I've been laying on my side and using my boyfriends back to support my tummy (he sleeps on his stomach) because laying on my side hurts really bad either side unless I have something under my tummy supporting it. Laying on my back is not very comfortable but it's more comfortable than laying on my side. I didn't know if it was bad for my baby though which is why I was asking.

Sleeping on your back is well-- not good for your back because of the weight.(altho i still love lying flat on my back to watch my baby move)but after that it cause me back pain like seriously-the aching is not fun. But majorly is that its known to block your main veins called Vena Cava that carries the vital flow thruout ur body.but then again everyone is different.id lay on my side but id stuff a pillow behind to support or lean forward and hug my hubs trying to make sleep a bit more comfortable without aching

Yeah, put a pillow under your back so that your kind of tilted a little and not flat on your back. I have to do this every night cause my hips and back hurts laying on either Side.

I heard lying on your back could suffocate the baby, or something. I laid on my back for the majority of my pregnancy, or ended up there after lying on my left side. The baby should be fine.

I was the same way, I prefer to sleep on my back but I try to stay on my side most of the time. From what I've read, the pressure from the baby compresses the blood vessels going to placenta therefore decreasing the blood flow. It can also make heartburn and constipation worse because the pressure slows things down. I personally just try to stay on my sides, better to be safe.

The weight of your uterus presses down on major blood vessels and can cut off sufficient oxygen to you and your baby. If you are most comfortable on your back, at least put a pillow underneath you and dont lay flat on your back. Regardless of other people saying their babies are fine, etc; it is far better to be safe than to be sorry.

It's not that you can't because you can. Just some doctors advise not too because the weight of the baby can make it difficult to breathe.

Um, who said that you can't lay on your back? Now , the part about laying on your stomach I could never do anyway because my belly is huge & my baby is big as well . If you  can give birth on your back, then you can lay down as well .

I laid on my back all the time most comfortable for me. Only problems I had was at times it felt like I couldn't breathe 100%. Also babies weight caused pressure

I'm 32 weeks and I slept on my front till I was 26 weeks and have slept on my back since. I have heard apparently it blocks the babies oxygen if you lie on your back but my baby is fine and my doctors have all said it's fine.
