How old is your baby? It is not recommended to start any foods until they are 6 months old. The recommendation used to be 4 months, but those have changed.
No solid foods until baby is at least six months old - then starting with some pureed fruits and veggies (avocado, banana, peas, carrots, parsnips) is a good introduction to textures and tastes. To spot any sensitivities, only introduce one new food every two to three days in the beginning. Cereals are non-nutritive empty calories and rice cereal especially has a high arsenic level. Talk to your child's pediatrician for helpful guidelines about beginning eaters.
You can give them just about everything blended. Rice and chicken, steamed vegetables blended. Eggs but just the yolk the white sticks to their stomach. Beans but take off the skin.
