spotting and intercourse

I had a positive hcg test on the 5th or March, from my calculations I am due around Nov. 11th (I have irregular periods) On the 7th I had some spotting/staining. I called the practioner on call and she said to call Monday to see if My OB wanted me to follow up sooner than I am scheduled (at around 8 weeks). She said in the mean time to avoid intercourse or tampon useage. I called my OB this am and she said to follow up with her between 8 and 10 weeks, and that it sounds like implantation bleeding, to call if other complication or more bleeding, but to try not to worry in the mean time. I forgot to ask if it was safe to have intercourse. I have had no abd pain or back pain and no more spotting. Does anyone know if there there is a greater chance of miscarriage if I do have intercourse?

Unless told NOT to by your doctor, intercourse is safe. You will not harm your baby. For now, since she said avoid intercourse, Just take it easy until you can be checked out. Spotting is normal, sometimes will happen after intercourse as well. Just rest it out, and hope all goes well.

You may have to call back and ask again. I wouldn't have sex until you see your doctor at your week 8 appointment.
