How do I know if baby has dropped?

I'm 36w and so far he looks/feels like he's still hanging up by my ribs. But I have sooo much pain and pressure in my hips and lower back. Does this mean he's dropped and he's just long? Because his butt is seriously still in my ribs.

And also when do you usually lose your mucus plug? Or how do you know you've lost it? I think by 36 weeks it should be gone, right?

My belly definitely touches the couch when sit down. Also the seat in the car too. So maybe he has dropped. I know that he's head down. But that's all my doctor said.

You will know when you drop your belly will be basically touching everything when you sit down i started dropping in the middle of my 36th week and by the end of the week my belly would sit on the couch when id sit down. Dont be afraid or think they will think of you weird they are there to answer your questions or concerns.. i asked plenty of questions in the beginning about what i would expect my whole pregnancy .

Well then, I definitely haven't lost it. No weird discoloration has surprised me yet. I feel like my doctors think I'm impatient, when really I'm just super curious about the next few stages to come.

Your a first time mom, you can ask them all the weird questions you want lol. You would know if you lost your muscus plug its like a brownish pink mucusy thing lol. But when you lose it it doesnt mean your going to go into labor any time soon some women dont go into labor for 3 weeks after they loose theirs. But if you are curious about it dont be afraid to ask the doctor!

Hmmm. Interesting. My next appt is on the 31st, would it be stupid to ask if it's still there? Or could they even tell?

Im 38 weeks and havent lost mine or even part of it. You can loose it all at once or in pieces some dont loose it until they go into labor. It depends on the person..
