strange question

Ok i have a serious question..my grandmother has a little dog, (shitz zu) and its in such bad shape,,yeast infections in both ears and in her area..her toe nails are so over grown that the only thing keeping them from breaking skin under her foot is the fact that her hair is so long and tangled it acts as padding..she cant walk or hardly go out side. Is this animal cruelty? I know this isn't the place for this but i need help..

PLEASE take your grandmother's shitz zu to the VET. Definetely sounds like it needs an ear cleaning, grooming appointment, dental appointment, and an overall checkup. I know it is expensive but most veterinary hospitals offer payment plans....I work at a veterinary hospital that has a payment plan called "carecredit".

I work at a veterinary hospital as vet assistant and to answer your question if you know she has all these issues and you're doing absolutely nothing to correct it and shes miserable, then yes it is. Those issues are common and take nothing but a visit to the vet. If het nails are that long why haventu clipped her nails? That can cause her nails to cut into her paw pads. If you cant afford treatment for her then she might need a new home...

Yeah you need to tell your grandma to do that. There's no need to get it put down or have it taken away if she loves her and it's that simple of a fix .

A trip to the vet to get shaved and nails cut and meds would do the trick i think.

It's not too old . Is it sickly ? Or would a few prescriptions and a trip to the groomers make her better ?

I would think so ... Part of owning an animal means that amongst food and vet visits that you also keep them groomed though . I know in my state they take that type of stuff pretty seriously . Poor puppy :(
