I haven't given birth yet but I'm also pos. Dr just said that whenever I'm in labor I'll get antibiotic through an IV so baby won't get it.
What is strep b ? & how do they test for it ? Or when ?
It's a bacteria and u get tested for it around 35-37 wks. It's a swab that goes into your vagina and rectum.
I tested positive for my first son had a csection...but my second son i was okay with this baby idk yet havent gotten tested maybe in 2-3 weeks more...im turning 34 weeks on thursday and they test u for that around 35 weeks
Okay I'm 37+3 ftm just a little nervous. I'm also allergic to penicillin which is the antibiotics they usually give so I have to get another one.. scary. hope all is well
I have it too.
I was really freaked out about it, whatever you do .. Don't read about it on the net .. You will get paranoid like I did until I had to talk to my doc again.
Ya the net is crazy. information makes you paranoid but the doctors know what they are doing and everything will be okay and healthy :)
Group B streptococcus (GBS) is a type of bacterial infection that can be found in a pregnant woman’s vagina or rectum. This bacteria is normally found in the vagina and/or rectum of about 25 % of all healthy, adult women. Those women who test positive for GBS are said to be colonized. A mother can pass GBS to her baby during delivery. The bacteria that causes group B strep normally lives in the intestine, vagina, or rectal areas. Group B strep colonization is not a sexually transmitted disease (STD). Approximately 25% of all healthy women carry group B strep bacteria. For most women there are no symptoms of carrying the GBS bacteria....
