It's just a vaginal swab they do. I had mine fine last week, I'm 38 wks along.
If you're positive, it's nothing you did and you won't have it forever. They just give you I.v. antibiotics during labor to keep baby safe :-).
Thanks.. im 34 weeks ..i thought my dr was slacking
I just got checked for this today. I'm 36 weeks and don't know the results yet...hoping it's not an issue.
Its a bactria that is found in the mother. It comes and it goes. I was neg with my first, pos with second, and found out yeaterday neg with this one. Ao it just depends on if you are carrying it at the time. If you test positive andu are induced, they will start antibiotics as soon they start pitocin. If your water breaks they will just tell you to get to the hospital asap to start the meds. After birth they will monitor you and baby for a certain amount of time, here it's 48 hours, then you are free to leave. My doc tested me at 37 weeks which is pretty normal. They cant do it much earlier becauae it can change so quickly.
I had mines done at 37w n at my 38w check up i was told that i tested positive for it...i wanted to cry 4 i didn't know what it was and doctor didn't explain what it was all she said was it is a bacteria that can cause complications to the baby and that i have to take antibiotics during active labor to protect him
