still bleeding or period???

I had my baby girl on October 7th. My 6 week follow up is Tuesday. I stopped bleeding two weeks ago and just stopped having discharge last week. Today I started some mild cramping followed by bright red blood. I'm also exclusively breastfeeding (I was told that has an effect on when you get your period). Anyways, how long did it take for some of you to get your period after birth? Or I am bleeding still from birth...

That sounds like your period. I bled for 4 weeks, then 2 weeks later got my period.

I plan on getting the IUD put in at my appointment on Tuesday. I just feel like it's really soon to be getting my period already.

I had my baby oct 20 nd my bleeding lasted 2weeks. Havent got my period...im going to start birth control on sunday

Postpartum bleeding was on and off for about 3wks and then no period for 3mths. And first period was heavy as postpartum bleeding but shorter then back to normal cycle. I only breastfed for 4wks.
