It depends on how far along you are.  At the beginning you have your blood work, then your pap smear, pelvic, and breast exam. They usually check for STD's with your pap. There are certain ones they test for late in pregnancy. You will have an appointment for a glucose test and an ultrasound in the middle. You will visit your doctor every 4 weeks until about 28-30 weeks, every 2weeks until around 36-38 weeks,  and once a week until delivered. After 20 weeks they usually don't do anything other than measure your fundal height (size of uterus) and listen to heartbeat for 15 seconds. The rest of the appointment is for questions. Closer to the end of pregnancy you may have a fetal stress test and be put on a monitor.  If you do not have this it is perfectly fine.  It's mostly used to see how the baby is tolerating contractions (you can have contractions that you have no idea you are having even months before birth.) Basically, if you are having a normal pregnancy you won't have anything except for measurements taken at your appointments until you start going every week.  When you start going every week you will be checked for dilation and thinning of the cervix.  They do this by inserting fingers into your vagina and pulling down on your belly. This can be very uncomfortable (When they check you in labor it is much easier bc the baby is down further so they don't have to go in as far) When you are still in pregnancy and checked it is normal to be dilated .5-3 cm for a month so don't get to excited. The effacement (thinning of the cervix) is what you should get excited about.  When you are 100% effaced your cervix is all the way thinned out which has to happen before the baby can start coming out. I can't really think of anything else to say at the moment but I hope this helped.

That's how mine go. He listens to the heartbeat for a couple seconds, checks my fungal height and says see ya next visit. 2+ hours in the waiting room to see the doctor for 5 minutes lol. Mines never done any blood work, they just have me pee in a cup each time.

Consider yourself lucky that you have easy visits. I went in yesterday for my 24 week visit and now have to have my thyroid checked, go back in two weeks for another ultrasound to make sure baby is growing alright, have a follow up with the Dr in 2 weeks, and see a nutritional counselor... I've suffered with morning sickness my whole pregnancy. In the beginning I lost 15lbs. I had gained back 3, but as of yesterday I'm losing again and they want to know why.

Thats how mine go, theres really nothing to be done until your a certain week and even then the tests are fast and uneventful. Mainly they just listen to heartbeat/measure and then answer questions & concerns
