Im 23, and im not sure when I last had it, would it be wise for my sister and bf to get it then too because they will be around him alot, I definitely dont want him to get sick!
Heyyy... im a licensed Phlebotomist too! And yes i do recommend the tdap! Just like these wonderful two ladies said! Its more for baby's well being. My doctor actually recommended that the entire family receive the shot as well, especially the ones that help you out and be around baby a lot. Just to besafe. She said its so common for kids to get whooping cough now and its really not good for them.
Pregnant women should definitely get the tdap. It will only help you and baby, not hurt you. The reason they do it is because when the baby is born, it doesn't get it's shots til it is 2 months. So in that time frame, they can get very sick with whooping cough(which can be fatal for babies) and things of that nature. My friend didn't get one, and her baby has been VERY sick with a cold that turned into bronchitis :( you do not want a sick baby. It hurts afterwards a little but I promise it's worth it. It's also to update you on your tetanus shot.
