testing... roller coaster

DH and I have been ttc forever. I miscarried my first pregnancy, which was in June of 2008. Now, Monday (May 24th) I got 2 BFPs. I was surprised because we weren't trying this cycle. I'm kinda paranoid about miscarrying again, but don't feel a lot of stress or worry. I don't feel any symptoms of pregnancy. With hCG doubling every 2 to 3 days, I decided to retest this morning (May 26th) and compare test strips of the same lot. Well, the line was slower to react and is fainter than the ones done May 24th. I was taking provera to trigger my period, but it never came. May 23rd was the last day I took Provera. Is there a way that Provera still in my system enhanced the hCG, and everything is still fine? Or should I be bracing for another miscarriage? (I'm on CD 47 today) Any advise on any of this would be appreciated. Thanks!

A Chemical Pregnancy is when you get a BFP and then AF comes. Usually when this happens a woman never even knows she miscarried she just thinks her cycle was late that month. Only woman who are ttc will know about their Chemical Pregnancy. If that's not what happened to then I doubt it. You might have had a missed miscarriage. How far along were you? Mine was a missed m/c at 11 weeks and found out the baby stopped developing after 9. Good luck at your appointment.

Pregnancy tests can be lighter or darker depending on how much dye they have in them. All that really matters is a + or - result. My first test I took during this pregnancy was WAY darker than the next 2 I took and I'm now 20 weeks.

Thanks for the replies :-) I have a lot going on... Last year they found hpv, did a colposcopy and biopsy. He wanted to repeat the colposcopy and biopsy May 24th. I've had provera and clomid for a few months. We weren't trying this cycle because my OB/GYN wanted to be able to biopsy if needed. I took the provera like I normally would, but no period. 5 days later, still no period and BFNs. That's when I started taking provera again (last thursday). I took it 5 days, skipped 5 days, then took it for 4. I didn't have indication that I was pregnant cuz I got BFNs on day 41. I just wanted my doc to be able to biopsy if needed. I tested Monday morning just to be sure, and that's when I was surprised. He did the colposcopy, and everything looks pretty good. No samples or scrapings were taken. Had an ultrasound right after the colp, but not even a gestational sac was visualized. He would guess I'm about 4 weeks, but based on LMP, I'm like 6 weeks. June 21st I go back to check for viability and dates. I'm just so paranoid about losing this one too. I thought I saw dicidual reaction on the ultrasound... And my doc agreed that there is "reason for optimism"... He is just so cute - in that nerdy doctor way. I will keep everyone updated! Thanks again for the advice :-)

Does that mean I had one? Because I didnt have the first ultrasound, and the heart beat wasnt there when they tested for it... With that machine thing.

I think you should see your GP!

Chemical Pregnancy is an early miscarriage where a women gets a positive on a HPT, but miscarries before a heartbeat is found on an ultrasound. They're extremely common and most chemical pregnancies the women doesn't even know she's pregnant.

If your HPT is getting lighter than that could mean you are having a chemical pregnancy. I would see if you can get an appointment with your OB to have a blood test done. I hope I am wrong and this is a viable pregnancy. Keep us updated and good luck!

I would make an app with you doc. Maybe they can squeeze you in today.. i wouldn't ultimately rely on your home pregnancy test to determine the viability of your pregnancy only because you could still be very early along and for some reason had more concentrated urine from the previous test.. say your hcg level was at a 15 two days ago.. in concentrated urine it could register much higher. I only know this because i had an hCG level of 7 the time i miscarried via blood test and my urine home pregnancy test came back with a strong positive.. my next level was a 27 and my FMU test came back with a faint positive. My doc said that urine can fluctuate the levels. I hope this is your month and everything works out great but please see your doc!:)

congrats on the BFPs....have you called your doc to make them aware of the provera use and the BFP?

im surprised your doc gave you provera without testing for preganancy...i honestly do not have the answer but i would def give your doc a call and see what they say...they should be able to check  your HCg levels to ensure they are increasing as they should...best of luck to you
