High Heart Rate

Hi. My name is Whitney and I am 8wks and 3 days pregnant. I have previously had a miscarriage and of course I am naturally worried about the chances of having one with this one. On my first visit to the Pregnancy Resourse Center I was exactly 6 wks. They could not see the baby or heart rate, but saw the yolk sac. They said everything looked good but I was probbly to early to see the baby. I went back at 8 wks to see if we could see the baby this time and we did. It was so cute. We were even able to se it's tiny heart beating. Everything seemed to be going good. Then she checked the heart rate and she (nurse performed ultrasound) asked me if I had had any caffiene that morning. I told her no. I had had some juice and oatmeal/w sugar in it. I don't drink caffienated drinks because I have never liked them, always prefered juice. She said that the heartrate was a little high at 189. She said it have to do with me having been stressed and worrying about if I was going to see the baby this time, or the baby could have been moving. I am worried now that the heart rate is to high. Should I be worried? What could cause my baby to have such a high heart rate. Could my asthma have anything to do with it.

I think you are fine too. At my first u/s at 8 weeks, they couldn't get an accurate reading and told me that the heart rate ranged from 82-186! I was shocked and didn't know what to think. I also think because they used an abdominal scan instead of an internal one, it wasn't as accurate yet. But then when we were able to hear it on doppler, it was around 135...then a couple of weeks later went up to 150. It has stayed at 150 now. Try not to worry yourself. I know how you feel though, you tend to worry more after you have had a miscarriage. I'm sure everything is fine. do you have another u/s scheduled yet to check the heart beat again?

I think it's fine. I read that a baby's heartbeat can go as high as 190-200. Sometimes maybe if the baby was moving around alot as well.  But I think 189 sounds fine. At 6 weeks mine was 180, now it's about 140, but they are all very strong.
