I think stress is a cop out if u want to smoke and u got permission from ur doc do what u want but ppl go thru life everyday with stress and don't result to smoking weed if ur willing to take the risk of possibly harming ur baby why come on here for support bcuz most ppl won't have any for u and I can't imagine a doc saying it's ok to smoke during pregnancy seeing as though it is illegal in most places still except under certain medical conditions

If your doctor suggested it, then why are you asking the question here.  :>)

If ur doctor says u could smoke weed y u asking us for advice ? I'm a person that hates drugs n drinking never smoked in  my life I go through a lot of stress but guess what I know I'm a lot stronger and don't need weed in my life , it's just a mental thing where u think u need it that's my opinion. And I've seen kids who are born while parents smoked, smoked pot, and drank alcohol. We all just pay that ur baby is born healthy. If u don't care about ur self don't care, care for ur unborn child when ur child is born do as much as weed u want.

Im Sure all of us pregnant women have tons of stress but here we are still alive in this journey ...I think it's selfish to do something where there is doubt if baby will or won't be affected. There are many other ways to destress find a for ex: hobby, exercise, remove yourself from ppl that may be causing stress. Best of luck

Actually, there are no studies in the U.S. about marijuana and pregnancy. But, in Brazil and Australia, they have linked pot and baby. They linked aggression, irritability, startles (like when babies get scared and jump in their sleep), slow learning, jitteriness, and higher symptoms of depression up to 14 years old. That's for women who smoke daily. I understand you might not smoke daily or whatever, but that's for the mothers who do. They tested over 420,000 live births of prenatal exposure to pot versus not exposing to pot. Just because there isn't studies doesn't mean it isn't there.

And @Meryluv I can say something that's a debate against your comment... I have been trusted with disability kids. I volunteer at a camp that works with them. So I know how to care for and raise one. My nephew has down syndrome, his parents come to me for advice and that's if youre second hand smoking cigarettes and for a matter of fact I don't smoke cigarettes at all anymore I haven't in three or four years now. I clearly said pot aka weed in my question not cigarettes. But yes I understand where you are coming from but your facts are wrong.

Talk to your doctor about it. There are no tests that show it will affect your pregnancy. My cousins doctor had no problem with it because there were no risks involved. Although each doctor is different and so is each pregnancy. Just see what they say.

Well my doctor is fine with it. She knows that I only smoke when I'm stressed and that's the only time I do smoke weed. As for the drug tests go she knows. And as far everything else as far ADD, ADHD, and OCD. My fiancée has ADHD and OCD, I have ADD and OCD so the baby is going to end up with it either way. For the research I have been up to date on all weed studies from my doctor. She said you'll be recommended to stop at month 6 or 7 in pregnancy. Which I was planning to stop at 5 1/2 months.

Not passing judgement, but as a pregnant mom, i know we all have stress. As the mother, we are protectors of our babies and shouldn't do questionable things. I hope you find a healthier way to cope.

Hi sorry I'm going to give you a very serious advice. Now stop what you're doing and listen carefully.  Imagine your new baby with down syndrome mental health issues. Now ask yourself a single question do you want to be responsible for your child's unfortunate future.
I am not judging you what you are doing is very relaxing and it's the most common way to take stress away I completely understand.  Take it from me  i'm a paramedic and I see a lot of unfortunate kids and babies every day
Give your baby the best chance in life !!!  I know your  goıng to be a amazing mother  but stop smokıng  you wıll feel so happy knowıng your baby Is healthy.
And I know you care about your baby, I promise you no one is judging you we just care about you and your new beautiful happy and healthy baby!!!

Ps: i'm going to be a father soon and I love smoking cigarettes a lot so I stopped so my pregnant wife and my new baby will not get harmed because of me

Drug screenings depend on the state in il they only test baby after birth their hasn't been any connections to marajuana and birth defects I know ppl who have smoked through out their whole pregnancy and have healthy babies. You should try to find other ways to help your stress cause that's only a temporary solution and if you do continue to use it don't smoke out of a tabacoo product.. Just be healthy and think of your baby first it's all about what you feel is safe for you and your baby! Do your own research and make a decision that way good luck I hop tings get better for you..

I don't know what she is talking about... there have been no research to back up the claim of adhd, add or OCD linked to pot in pregnancy.  All of those are genetic and passed down (my entire family has OCD).
I am not saying to smoke though. Stop now. Your Doctor's May Do Random Drug Screens AR Prenatal Appointments.

It always affects baby. In the last trimester your baby is establishing its nueral connections and smoking pot alters the way these are laid down. So instead of the connections being the best and fastest, they normally end up being laid in the long way round. Its up to you either way but do try to read up as much as possible on studies done with babies and smoking pot in utero so you are at least informed. :) and not just peoples opinions. Youll find studies that say it doesnt matter long term and some that insist your killing your baby (which you're not) just read up is all im saying. Best of luck. Xx

It's not good to smoke pot in the beginning of pregnant becuz it can affect baby's brain growth. He/she can develop a hyper active disorder or ADD, ADHD, OCD. But later on in the pregnancy it won't affect the baby. Be aware when you give birth they will do a thc on the baby and if it's positive they will keep your baby till its out of there system and you will get a visit from social services. I smoked pot to reduce stress to but I quit when I was 6 weeks pregnant. Just. Heads up.
