threatened miscarriage

K so I just got home from the ER im 6 weeks pregnant and they did hcg test to see if I miscarried and what the status of my baby is, well hcg test came back at 1,800 so idk if baby is ok I have to compare my hcg levels that I got done last Wednesday and see if the hcg levels have been raising accordingly. So baby has a 50/50 chance at this point, they diagnosed it as being a threatened miscarriage... has anyone gone through this and had a successful pregnancy?

I had a threatened miscarriage at 10 weeks for a subchronic hemmorhage in the amniotic sac and now I'm 18+4 weeks with a baby boy who is perfect! :) so try not to stress, there may be no problem at all or it could fix itself.

I have had cramping but its lighter than period cramping, the dr at the ER said that I could take Tylenol to fade any pain, and ive seen my dr and I went to the ER last night, I have a dr appt in the morning for blood work to test hcg levels to see if they have raised, then I have a dr appt on Wednesday so ive been on top of everything as much as I can and ive seen a few doctors. I am praying thay everything is ok with baby and that I get to be the lucky one who gets to say I had a threatened miscarriage but my baby made it! Thank you all for your prayers I really so apprecitate them <3 lets hope tomorrow brings good news!

Me! At 6 weeks I went to the e.r. for.spotting and I was put on bed test until 12 weeks because of it and they had me come in a week later for more hcg test and they rised so.was good. They told me the same though. I'm now 20 + weeks ans my baby is perfectly fine. <3 so.don't worry too much about it, just take it easy, get plenty of rest and make sire you follow up with your obgyn for baby. Good luck hun. Ill be praying for you two.

I had a threatened miscarriage when I was 6 weeks ,now I'm 15 weeks I got my first ultrasound when i was 13 weeks and the baby was moving around and waving its arms and legs , my doc said that everything looks normal and that it is very unlikely that I would have a miscarriage , they put me on bedrest for a month and told me to elevate my legs

I had that at 4 weeks with my first and lost that one.. BUT the next month I became pregnant and had the same thing happen at 5 weeks, BUT this one refused to go anywhere. :) I'm 35 weeks and 2 days. Just stay positive.  The second time this happened I just tried to relax and have a smile and be prepared dor whatever may come. I honestly think that my positive outlook saved my baby :) good luck and take it easy :)

Just rest and think positively! I'm glad to hear you haven't miscarried! There is still a good chance you won't, & I know it's stressful, but just try to relax.

A threatened miscarriage is a condition that suggests a miscarriage might take place before the 20th week of pregnancy.

Causes
Some pregnant women have some vaginal bleeding, with or without abdominal cramps, during the first three months of pregnancy. When the symptoms indicate a miscarriage is possible, the condition is called a "threatened abortion." (This refers to a naturally occurring event, not medical abortions or surgical abortions.)

Miscarriage occurs in about half of pregnancies that have first trimester bleeding.

Symptoms
Symptoms of a threatened miscarriage include:

Abdominal cramps with or without vaginal bleeding
Vaginal bleeding during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy (last menstrual period was less than 20 weeks ago)
Note: During an actual miscarriage, low back pain or abdominal pain (dull to sharp, constant to intermittent) can occur. Tissue or clot-like material may pass from the vagina.

Exams and Tests
Abdominal or vaginal ultrasound may be done to check the baby's development, heart beat, and amount of bleeding. A pelvic exam will be done to check the cervix.

The following blood tests may be performed:

Beta HCG (quantitative) test over a period of days or weeks to confirm whether the pregnancy is continuing
Complete blood count (CBC) to determine amount of blood loss
Pregnancy test to confirm pregnancy
Progesterone level
White blood count (WBC) with differential to rule out infection
Treatment
You may be told to avoid or restrict some forms of activity. Not having sexual intercourse is usually recommended until the warning signs have disappeared.

The use of progesterone is controversial. It might relax smooth muscles, including the muscles of the uterus. However, it also might increase the risk of an incomplete abortion or an abnormal pregnancy. Unless there is a luteal phase defect, progesterone should not be used. Your doctor can tell you more about this.

Outlook (Prognosis)
Many women with threatened miscarriage go on to have a normal pregnancy.
