tipped uterus - miscarriage and folic acid intake - help and advice

Hello,

I had a miscarriage about 20 days ago at 5 weeks 6 days. When I went to see my doctor after the miscarriage, she recommended me to take the 1 mg of folic + and 0.4 mg. Total she recommended me to take 1.4 mg. Then I saw my Gynae and he suggested that 1mg is enough. I do not know who to believe.

Another question is: I have a tipped uterus. My husband and I have been trying for about 7 months and had a miscarriage on our first pregnancy. I was wondering if anyone has been in the same situation like me managed to get pregnant straight away after the first normal cycle after the miscarriage. What are my chances of conceiving first try after a normal cycle with a tipped uterus.

Any other tips to facilitate conception with a tipped uterus?

Any advices will realllly help me.
Thanks

When I went in for my first u/s at 8w3d, the doctor said my uterus was tilted so he would have to do a transvaginal u/s.  He said it should be ok by the next appointment and a regular u/s can be done.  He said it is nothing to worry about.  My SIL had a tilted uterus also and they said the only issue could be having to do a c-section during delivery.  But other than that, it has nothing to do with fertility (my OBGYN confirmed that).

my g/f in FL has a tipped uterus, and she said when they were ttc hardcore, she'd BD, then lay on her upper back with pillows stuffed under her booty with her legs propped up also.....of course, when her and her DH lived w/me and my 1st hub, now i know why i always found her like that! but it worked 3 times! she m/c'd 2 times, but had her daughter just fine! apparently she'd heard it worked, and according to her it does!

Hi,

Thank you ladies for replying back to my message. I am feeling much better but to let you know, I was losing it !!!!! It was very hard emotionally but I am ok now.

My miscarriage was not too bad. I had no cramps but bled for 5 days(normal period).
I went for a pelvic exam twice now and everything has gone back to normal. I took a PG test on Monday and it came back negative ;o). When I was pregnant, after the blood tests, I found out I was not immune to rubella. So after the miscarriage, I went for the shot and now I have to wait 28 days before I could start TTC. This works out perfectly for me as it will be a week before my normal cycle if AF comes according to the plan.

I know having a tipped uterus is very difficult to visualize things in the uterus and hear a heart beat. May be a transviginal ultrasound should be requested. Contact your doctor and I am 100% sure you will see a heart beat by next week. If your HCG level is rising, you should not worry.
You can go to your doctor and request for another blood test and an ultrasound for next week. I know you cannot prevent yourself from being anxious but the best thing is to go and see your doctor.

Good luck and keep us posted!

I was told yesterday that my uterus is tipping back and the radiologist said it's completely normal for it to tip back or forward.  I am pregnant 6weeks 5days and hoping for a healthy pregnancy.  I did not see a heartbeat,  I am not sure if I missed it or what but I am now anxious to know.  I will research more about tipped uterus.  but we had a hard time getting pregnant.  But... to people like us... pregnancy is possible. I even have PCOS on top of that,  so take it easy.  It will happen when  you least expect it. Baby dust to you

Hey - I have always had a tipped uterus too, and like the pp, it does not make any difference in fertility. I've had 2 miscarriages in the last 10 years and 2 healthy babies. I've always gotten pregnant within 3 cycles of trying. My last miscarriage was June 24th, and I'm pregnant again now before my period even started. Hopefully this is a sticky one.....

Apparently women are very fertile for a few months after a miscarriage, though you might want to wait a bit if your miscarriage was hard on your body. Mine was very mild, so it wasn't a big issue. Just go with what your doctor says.

As far as folic acid goes, I've always just been told to take a prenatal and that is sufficient.

Good luck, hope you get your BFP!

I did some Googling on tipped uteruses and trying to conceive.  There's a lot of websites out there about it.  The first one I found had this:

"Remember that a tipped uterus in no way can hamper with your fertility or your chances of getting pregnant. Some women are born with their uterus tilted forward or backward. Often with a pregnancy and delivery of a baby, the uterus goes back to the normal position. A tipped uterus is typically only thought to be problematic when trying to conceive after all other possible reasons for fertility problems have been investigated and ruled out. If there is no other explanation for your fertility problems a uterine suspension may be recommended by your doctor. However, this is not common.

A tipped uterus can occasionally lead to difficulties in getting pregnant. Since a tipped uterus makes sexual intercourse very painful and difficult, it can come in the way of getting pregnant but does not affect your fertility. If a doctor determines that it is causing a problem for you when trying to conceive, the uterus can be tipped into its correct position. Straightening out the uterus can often enable a woman to become pregnant, if that was the reason for the failure to conceive."

As for your folic acid intake ...I'm not sure.  .4 mg more doesn't really seem like a big difference, but maybe it is in the medical world.
