Hi I'm 33 weeks GD my first & current. Im very big because of extra fluid my doc said I might deliver the baby 3weeks b4 my due date I'm also in insulin 3 times a day & getting monitor twice a week & once a week for u/s for fluid... It's kind a ***** coz every time I come in they always check my cervix if open but not it's just extra fluid & baby moving so much... So far so good they also told me I might deliver c-section...not really my idea I deliver normal my first but this might be cs...my advice is just keep control ur eating especially with sugar if ur taking insulin ur in the safe side.... I didnt know I was GD this time & I drink a lot of mocha from coffee bean...that's how I got so big! Lol but right now my stomach is so heavy &cant really do much just being couch potato..
Big babies from GD are usually from uncontrolled sugars... so as long as you are monitoring your sugars then you should be okay...
I had gd with babies 1 and 3. I was induced 6days early with my first ( no extra iv, I didn't need insulin) and she was 7lbs 7oz.( vaginal ) and baby 3 was born 6 days early( I did have to have extra iv for insulin) but he was 7lbs 10oz also vaginal. Where I'm from they induce you usually at 38-39 wks but will let you go to your due date if every thing is looking good.
I had gd with my first. I was huge! At 26 weeks I was measuring at 32 weeks even though my sugars were well controlled . My Dr induced me at 39 weeks because he though baby was over 8 lbs. I had a quick delivery vaginally, and she turned out to be 6 lbs 12 oz. They checked my sugars twice in the hospital and nothing else. And it turned out I was so big because I had a lot of extra amniotic fluid.
Did you do both the 1hr and the 3hr or just the 1hr test
I am just worried because im already measuring bigger then i.should be at almost 29weeks. I have 2 other children and had no.complications. I was stunned when i got the call.sayin i had gd.
I had it too and i was able to keep my blood sugar under control with a strict diet...i was considered high risk because of it...i had to go and have extra ultrasounds...i was enduced 2 weeks early at 38wks because they thought my son was gonna be about 8lbs plus but he was only 6lbs15oz...i delivered him naturally...if you can keep it under control delivering will not be an issue...i hope that helped some take care :))
The only thing that totally sucked was checking my blood sugar 4 times a day :/
What is the extra iv for. Ive never had a c section my son was 7lb9oz and my daughter 6lb3oz. Soive never had a bigbaby. Im hoping a c section wont.be necessary.
Hi! I had gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy... I even needed insulin.. not just diet change. Regardless I had a good pregnancy and labour...My labour was induced at 40weeks exactly and I had a safe delivery. The only difference you have an extra IV while in labour. No big deal.. if you haven't had a previous c-section.. and the rest of the pregancy is healthy and your sugar is controlled all should go smoothly. BTW the reason why some women need a c-section and mostly because with Gestational Diabetes the babies have a tendency to be bigger.
Good Luck!
