so sick of water but dehydrated

So I've been staying hydrated but yesterday had to go to L&D cause of contractions (which I'm still having BTW) and decreased fetal movement. They told me I'm dehydrated. I have been drinking like 30 or so 12 oz glasses of water from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. I occasionally slip in a coke or glass of tea but it is literally making me sick the thought of water. Any suggestions??

Have you been tested for gestational diabetes?? Extreme thirst and dehydration is a symptom of that. See your dr!!

How far along are you?  Have you had the glucose tolerance test yet?  Excessive thirst can be a symptom of diabetes.

I also read that drinking too much water can mix up your bodies signals and cause the feeling of thirst without you being thirsty.

I would definitely call your regular Dr. and tell them what's going on and see what advice or suggestions they have.

Juice will hydrate you, it doesn't dehydrate.  It has extra sugar and calories in it that you may not want if you don't need them is all.  Caffeinated beverages will act as a diuretic, which can cause dehydration as it makes you pee a lot.  You need to drink an extra glass of water, milk or juice if you have a caffeinated beverage.
I try to average an 8 ounce glass of water an hour, if it is hot or I am getting some exercise I will have an extra glass or 2.

Drinking too much water will deplete your electrolytes and put your kidneys into overdrive which will cause damage.  The imbalance of electrolytes can cause swelling throughout your body, including your brain.  That can cause cramps, nausea, seizures...contractions during pregnancy.

I was told if I was having contractions to have 1 glass of water and lay on my left side.  If the contractions were from dehydration the extra water from the one glass would help rehydrate me more and the contractions would slow down or stop.  If they slowed down another glass of water could help them stop.

If you have a good diet with vegetables and fruits your necessary water intake is even lower because you get water through those foods.

You can drink to much water and die actually. I hate to say that to you but its totally possible because you throw off all your other levels of things. I would go talk to your dr about it. Have them check you out and tell them what L&D said But you can drink tea will help or lemon water. Juice is high in sugars so dont drink a ton of it but 30 12oz glasses is quite a bit..... I would make sure thats ok with your dr. Mine says 8 8oz... But if you are still having contractions call dr and get in to see them right away.

No.they.didn't do any.labs at all. Yesterday I didn't drink as.much as I.normally do cause I slept in til 10 then went to the hospital at 430. At the hospital they hooked me to an IV and with two big bags of the fluid (IDK is it just straight water?) Anyway I think those are a liter each? AND they had me drink 3 cups of.water. They just said they I'm dehydrated after they saw I was having.contractions.
So am I drinking TOO much? How many glasses of water should I drink?

Juice will not hydrate you!!! It does the opposite. Drink gatorde, or mix half gatorade and half water. Also watermelon helps with dehydration!! Just remember its getting warmer so your body is burning more!! I try to drink gallons of water a day, otherwise I end up with contractions!!

Sorry, me again:) Did they draw labs like a BMP to check to see what kind of dehydration you have? Or did they assume that you are dehydrated because you were having contractions?

You can actually fluid overload yourself, which could deplete your electrolytes which I assume could also cause you to contract as your body would be under stress.

Yea I agree with you there, I dont know how you could possibly be dehydrated drinking 10 liters of fluid.

Your drinking 10 Liters of fluid per day, the recommened amount for women is 2.2 liters, so you are just over 4 times the recommeneded amount. That is excessive, seriously ask your doctor because that just seems bizzare to me, not to mention it must be miserable for you!!

I agave to.drink.it with ice or it give me a headache IDK why but it does lol. I drink cranberry juice when I first get up, while I'm making breakfast and before I go to bed I really need to get some apple juice but IDK if I could drink enough of that lol. I'll get some (I need it for my son anyway) and some Gatorade. I didn't even think.of that. I just don't get how I'm still dehydrated and I'm beginning to become concerned about the contractions because I don't FEEL dehydrated and my urine is clear. This is ridiculous!

That is a lot of water!

Have you tried juice? Apple or orange or something like that? Gatorade?

I have a heart problem that requires me to drink 4 liters of water a day, so I totally get you on that one, I am sick of water too. I find that when I drink it with ice its a lot better.
