My doctor has referred me for an early scan

I went to see my doctor this morning, as on Friday I went to see the family planning nurse to show her my positive pregnancy tests, and told me I'd need to see him to refer me to a midwife. I told her all my symptoms, tender breast, nauteaus and abdominal cramps a slight sharp twinges in my ovaries, can be on either side. She said that this was normal. But when speaking to my doctor this morning he said he'd rather get me in for an early scan, in case it's an eptopic pregnancy. He has me really worried now! Surely I'd get more severe pains if it was, and it's be more onesided?? Do you think he's just being over cautious and covering his back, or is it not normal to have these twinges??

At least in the end you will get to see your baby sooner :). I am high risk so I started having ultrasounds just shy of six weeks and I loved it getting to see baby so early. It's truly amazing. I wouldn't worry too much. It sounds what you are experiencing is normal so just try and be excited that you will get to meet your little one on that ultrasound screen sooner than you would otherwise :)

I'm 6 weeks at the moment! My friend who is pregnant has the same symptoms but her doctor didn't refer her for an early scan. Course it was a different doctor. Suppose it's ether to be safe than sorry, I just hope he/she is where it's meant to be! I'd be devistated if it's not :-( just got my a tad bit worried. But thanks for the reassurance!! Suppose there is that many people out there suing doctors that hes gotta be over catious!

The pains you are feeling are probably just growing pains, in early pregnancy, especially I think your first, everything is so new to you and you can't help but panic at any pain or twinge. Just try and relax and don't worry Im sure baby bean is fine x

DON'T panc hun, I had the exact same situation. I was around 5 weeks pregnant and was getting sharp pains on one side, went to my doc to be on the safe side and she wanted to be sure it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy so sent me for an early scan, everything was fine, baby was where it should be and I got to see my lil bean extra early, im now 23weeks pregnant =). How far along are you? Chances are if you were having an eptopic pregnancy you wouldn't feel pain until baby had started developing further about 9-12weeks and it would be one sided. Please don't panic cause I did and baby bean was fine :) x
