I get upper back pain BAD on my right side only.. Somedays its worse than others.. Just make sure you are sleeping on your side because sleeping on your back can make back pain worse.  I put a hot pad on my back when Im at home lounging around and it helps a little but it still comes back.. im getting a pregnancy massage soon and I have had one already.. It seems to take the pain away temporarily but it still comes back.. Your back is strained because you are gaining so much weight in your belly.  Its normal.

omg i can 2nd the "upper back" pain!!!
my lower back rarely hurts, and changing positions solves that, but with upper back pain, all i can do is sit straight up propped against pillows for an hour + !!!   and that drives me nuts, especially because other parts of my body start hurting lol

i'm almost 30 weeks, and this is my first pregnancy also...the gas, i believe there are OTC meds that you can buy, and if those don't help then consult your doctor.....i found this on americanpregnancy . com

Sometimes, eating a bland diet will help calm gas pains.  Try cream soups, tapioca pudding, bananas, milk (if you are not lactose intolerant), apple juice, cereal (low fiber), cooked vegetables and fruits, potatoes without the skin, scrambled eggs and meat that is not seasoned or fried.  You may be able to help your gas pain with exercise as well.  Going to the bathroom and having a BM will also help with gas pain.

When all else fails, it is generally considered safe for women to take antacids such as Tums or Rolaids as well as Simethicone, which is found in the over the counter medications Gas-X, Mylicon and Phazyme.  These medications are not rated on the grading system the FDA has developed to show the potential danger to a fetus, but these drugs are not absorbed from the intestinal tract and into the blood stream.  You should check with your doctor or midwife before using these medications

for just plain old constipation(which i've had maybe 3 times), i've just drank 2 cups of black coffee with a little sugar, and voila, lol within an hour i'm going!
