bellybutton ring infection!

can anyone give tips on how to treat a infected belly button? i talked to a few people and they said leave it in or the infection would get stuck in there and not be able to drain as the jole closes up. that u want it to drain. i removed my plastic pregnancy ring and put my original steel bar in which thankfully still fits (34 weeks) and i flushed it with peroxide. the part thats infected is not the hole its the skin that covers the bar, its swollen and fat due to the car door almost ripping it out. i was standing to close to the door when i opened it which caused a hard riping motion... so now its fat looking. i stuck a needle in it as well which released blood and water looking stuff which i assume was the infectinous stuff. now that i stuck it will the swelling go down? how else can i treat this?

Salt water is the only thing i recommend unless you go to a professional and get it looked at.
