I was induced twice and had my water broken for me both times.  I heard that it's actually pretty rare to have it gush out like you'd see in the movies or whatever....although I know someone who that happened to, when she was at a salon getting pre-birth pampering done, of all places!

That would be a great gift for you and your family. I hope it happens for you!!! Just try not to stress about it and let it happen naturally, when your baby is ready. From my experience the contractions hurt way worse when i was induced. I wish you the best.

Thank you ladies!! I love hearing stories about different births.. Ive just been so discouraged, and starting to think Ill never go into labor on my own, I have spent the last couple days really depressed.. Ive waiting so long for my due date to come around and even had myself believing he would come early, and hes still not here, i know I still have 4 days till my due date, but I havnt felt any different.  And my doctor last told me Id have to wait a week before he would induce me, I cant imagine waitng another week.  Ive been imagining this day for along time.. im being so emotional and such a cry baby, but i just really want to hold my son.. and would love for him to be here for mothers day. that would be th most amazing gift in the world

My babyboy is 2 months old.... you will know when your water brakes.....You will be able to tell..  it was 3:15am It felt like I had to use the bathroom.... on my way down the hall I felt a gush of water between my legs.....I thought I peed on myself .... but it didn't feel like it when the rush began.... when I sat on the toilet I noticed my mucus plug bursted..... I stayed sitting on the toilet (where I felt most comfortable...rocking back and forth) I knew I was in labor because I was cramping then it would stop every few minutes.... I called the doc she thought because it was my first child I was probably not in labor.....she told me to time contractions for two hours then come in.... I got to the hospital @ 6:30am.. I was dialated 4 cen..... contractions feel like period cramps {but veryyyy heavy} and you can't take no meds...

Oh were to start because i had 2 totally different labors. Well with my first i was in a car accident at 39 weeks 5 days and was of course taken to the hospital. Where i was monitored for like 4 hours and nothing but was told i was at risk and could not leave untill i had my baby so i was induced. Then the labor pain and contractions started but my water did not break untill i was given a cathader after i got the epidural. Then with my second son i started contracting at 33 weeks went to the hospital and was told it was not contractions it was just pressure from everything expanding. I was working a ft job at a restaurant at this time and was told to buy one of the belts to support my belly. Well the next night the same pains cam back while i was at work and they were 10 times worse so i had to leave work. When i left i went home and around 2am i was taken to the hospital feeling like i was in full labor. When the nurse checked me i was dialated to 4cm and water still intact. My water did not break untill they checked me again later and was almost ready to push. I hope this helps you out a little bit. I would say if you are in labor pain and contracting about every 5 min go to the hospital.

Hey hey! With both of my boys my water broke at home. This actually only happens between 10-12% of women... Mine (as doctors have told me) is contributed to the weight of the baby and also my cervix was dilated between 3 cm and 4 cm for it to happen for me. Apparently my cervix can only take so much weight of the baby and that is also true for my water breaking. Also, as weird as this is, the smaller I am in weight when I get pregnant then the less the baby weighs when my water breaks. (EX. 1st baby I was 130 lbs when I got pregnant and weighed 189 the day I delivered and baby weighed 8lbs 5oz-- 2nd baby I was 123 lbs, weighed 172 when I delivered and baby weighed 7lb 12.5 oz) =)
