well, i never fixed it, so since they're still in the freezer, i'm just gonna make it next time df goes offshore....yea, i've wanted to have wine or something, but i am absolutely not a wine person....df is, he used to buy some in every single port he was in while in the navy....but i've never been able to get past the bitterness....the dr has said it's ok to drink, esp if stress, to have 1 glass....but ****, i dont like it....sometimes i can drink the sutter minies, and my mom mentioned wine coolers b/c it is more sugar than alcohol.....idk, i'd have to see about that.....
dirtyindie is right, my OBGYN has said alchahol isn't good HOWEVER when I told him that I drink a glass of wine on occasion since my 2nd trimester, he didn't say anything about NOT doing it as long as it's only every so often (1-2x a week)
my doctor told me the same thing when i asked about wine sauces. most of the alcohol is burned off, leaving the taste behind. fetal defects usually occur when the mother is drinking large amounts of alcohol anyway. in europe, mothers drink more during pregnancy than mothers in the united states!
ok that's what i thought, about the actual alcohol burning off.....so yea i'm just wanting it for the flavor, as i don't wanna toss out $10 in pork chops....our month has been tight, and i'm like no way, i'm making it, but i'll do the beer batter to "throw it off" a little bit lol.....

Jesseelee~ The alchahol is almost totally burned off. I used to be on a high risk medicine where I couldn't eat or drink ANY alchahol, not cough syrup or food cooked in it.
The doctors said that a tiny amount of alchahol remains in the food But in my case the reason for NO alchahol was it made the medicine change into one that never left my system and would cause severe birth defects.
So my doc's said a little TINY bit remains in the food but not enough to cause anyone harm in a normal situation, so I say GO AHEAD!
Earlier in my pregnancy I asked my doctor the same question about making beer battered haddock, and he gave me the "go ahead". It's only a cup of beer and your actually burning off the alcohol when you fry/cook it anyway. Sounds yummy... I've never had beer battered pork chops before (however I rarely say no to anything fried or battered). =)
No i would imagine it wouldn't hurt.
A. The amount of alcohol that remains in cooked foods is so minimal that it certainly wouldn't be harmful to you or your baby. I've never heard of anyone getting drunk after overindulging on pasta with vodka sauce or chicken cooked in wine. Have you?

I could be wrong, but I believe that most alcohol used in foods will cook off when it is heated. It is usually used for the flavor, not the alcoholic content.
