weight gain

I currently weigh 95-96lbs and I am 5'1.. I have always been small... and I eat 3 meals a day on avg..  prior to my pregnancy and then miscarriaged, I weighed 97-98 lbs.  I am technically underweight by  10 lbs and i know it increases your risk for miscarriage.  My doctor said she felt my weight is fine even if its low because I am healthy and my body is functioning normal so she told me not to worry about it...

I would be comfortable at 99-100lbs really so gaining a couple pounds seeems like a good idea..  But I try and I dont gain weight.  I know if I start exercising regularly again, I might be able to gain some weight from muscle mass so I am hoping to start exercising at least 3 times a week to improve there.

Does anyone else have advice on how to gain weight?   I am not lacking vitamins and minerals, as I get plenty of protein, eat tons of vegetables (1 -3 cups of spinach 4 times a week at least plus other vegetables), grains (rice 1-3 times a week, whole wheat bread) and I have been taking prenatal vitamins since my initial pregnancy in July.  Does anyone know some specific HEALTHY food that help people gain weight.

I was 98 lbs before I got pregnant each time and have a healthy 2 year and 4 week old. I had so much problem gaining weight before I got pregnant and during my pregnancy gained exactly 30 lbs. It's not exactly but something that helped me gain weight pre pregnancy was peanut butter smoothies from jamba juice.

i too dont agree with weight being your problem for miscarriage.  my sister weights 98 lbs, and has a almost 4 year old and a 2 year old, and gained 60 lbs with one and 40 with the other, and now again she is back at 98 lbs.

Working out. I think will help. like you said with the building muscles part

I guess I am just getting paranoid with the ttc part coming up again soon and my past miscarriage..  i know weight wasnt a factor but i remember a friend who is underweight but actually has a host of health problems, talking ato me about how good it was too see someone who was small having a successful pregnancy then weeks later, I wasnt...

Exercisng more wont hurt me.. but you guys are right, I really shouldnt worry..  I never feel weak, and have lots of energy...  i guess it would be different if i felt crappy all the time...

I just see so many comments about people being too skinny to have successful pregnancies when they weight95 lbs but in most cases, I try to tell myself its not the time because they are tall and excessively diet..

I agree.  some people are just small.  If you really do wish to add a few lbs, try looking in the weight loss section at the drug store.  I know this sounds odd, but bear with me...  They have different types of mass building shakes & such that will help you bulk up some.

I don't think your body needs artery clogging foods...  Good fats are what you are after.  Salmon, tuna fish & nuts have them.  Peanut butter.

petite wonder, I was small when I was younger too.  some people just are.  I wish that was still the case, as I'd love to be 100lbs again.  I aged & my metobolism slowed.  pooh.

honestly it sounds to me like you are healthy; if your body NEEDED more weight, it would naturally put on weight as you ate like you are describing. other than eating fattening foods (which i don't suggest) theres not another way i know of to gain weight. your body is obviously healthy, otherwise it would put on weight. try protein shakes?
i am 5'4" and 105-108 and i have a big but and fairly big boobs :)...and i am 3 inches taller than you. it sounds to me like you are about right. it wouldn't HURT you to gain weight, but i do not think you NEED to.
if your doctor said she wasn't worried about it then i wouldn't be either.
