This might sound EXTREMELY stupid to a lot of you, but I am seriously curious. Do the doctors really spank the baby to make it cry right after birth? I was told they do it to make sure the baby is breathing properly. It sounds kind of mean to me.

It used to be something they did but I don't think they actually do it anymore

If its taking g to long I've heard of doctors tapping the bum or the foot.

Depends on the situations. If baby doesn't cry at first they some places will spank baby but if baby Cry's they usually don't.

i dont think thats true, my first born didn't cry, and they didnt do anything they just did his weight and passed him back to me.
