Quitting cold turkey cannot harm your baby I quit the moment I found out I was pregnant it definitely cannot send your baby into shock

Im 22w an i quit at 7 weeks.. all i can say is, if u try and quit and fail, dont stop trying to quit. Keep going at it. With some people it took meny battles to stop completely. The first couple of days is the hardest... i used chewing gum, lots of it, a supportive partner. I also use E-cig SOMETIMES when i feel the urge for a smoke. These vapour smoke are not gud for baby either,i just puff on it without inhaling.it realy does help alot.you can get a e-cig with nicotine, just without the 4000 chemicals thats found in normal smokes.u can start on the nicotine one then change to no nicotine. Its better to vapour then smoke . But use when desperate.

I don't like when I hear people use the word "can't" when it comes to quilting smoking, especially if it's for your baby. Anyone can do anything, my bf uses the "can't" word and I wanna smack him in the head because he can but just doesn't want to. Read the book the easy way to stop smoking and you'll understand better why you think you can't quit but really you easily can. Good luck, I know it's not easy but I quit for my baby girl the day I found out I was pregnant. That was enough for me to say goodbye to the icky habit

Doctors out here dont tell people it will shock or harm baby if u quit cold turkey their patients usually say ohhh I cant quit its to hard. So they will tell them to try an cut back BECAUSE the smokers in reality dont want to stop so doctors would prefer them to smoke as little as possible if they wont completely stop

I have never had a doctor tell me that quitting cold turkey affects the baby in a negative way. In fact I have asked many nurses and doctors and they said that your baby will not go into "shock" or anything of the sort.

062914 I'm glad I'm not where you are because your doctors are lying to you. Don't listen to someone on the internet, I wasn't giving you the advice anyway. The OP can Google the pros and cons of quitting while pregnant and she'll see for herself that your statement holds no merit. I was a smoker while pregnant 10 years ago. The benefits of quitting smoking are almost immediate to the baby. Unless you are one of those extremely rare cases where you smoke 4 packs a day and are at an increased risk of seizures which could cause you to lose oxygen, then I'd say your baby is only reaping the benefits of not having their only oxygen source polluted.

I've talked to my dr. and she told me it's ok if I atleast reduce cos I can't quit also. another dr. said the same thing to my sister in law. and I don't say it's ok to smoke. just don't let judgemental people bring you down, they won't make you quit but just make you feel bad. there are much more worse unhealthy stuff in life that we eat, drink, breathe everyday, but no one seems to bother with that.

I quit about one or two weeks slowly before I found out I was pregnant because it was making me feel so sick... now I just use my vape. But I only do it very rarely because it helps cut down on the urges... now I can go days without even that. But every once in a while my nerves get the best of me. Im very carefull not to overdo it because the health effects of it arent well known.

Your baby will not go into shock. Nicotine withdrawal is 70% psychological and 30% physical and it only takes roughly 72 hours for nicotine to leave your system. I have NEVER heard of a doctor advising any pregnant woman to ween off of cigarettes during pregnancy. Quitting is best and safest for your baby.

Doctors suggest you dont quit cold turkey cause it can put your baby in shock, bt i quit cold turkey a week before i found out i was pregnant, it kept making me sick. As long as youre trying to quit or atleast slow down is good though because not every one can just quit like its nothing. Dont let anyone make you feel bad.

(when I had my first drink) but I've finally totally quit and just focus on other things but my sis told me she smoked the whole time she was prego, but I never knew she kept it hidden well! People will probably comment on this telling you that quitting cold turkey could hurt the baby, blah blah blah. The truth is, there are only positive affects quitting smoking will have on your pregnancy. Yes, even smoking less than you used to can still have an affect on your babies health. The most common result of smoking while pregnant is preterm birth and low birth weight. The best approach to quitting is talking to your doctor to determine which option is best for you. Quitting isn't easy, but definatly not impossible. (Ex smoker of 14 years right here. Been smoke free for nearly 2 years) good luck to you!
