Because studies cannot be conducted using street drugs there are no known effects from smoking weed. However if you consider what it does to an adult (impairs judgment, for example) then you have to assume that it is not going to be good for an unborn baby.
My rule is - if you won't give it to your baby when they're outside the womb don't put it in your body (this includes alcohol, smoking, etc.). So if your friend wouldn't hand her baby a bong she needs to understand that what goes into her does pass through the placenta to baby.
Then tell her not to smoke in front of you. If she's a real friend she'll understand.
me too :( she smoked it through her 1st pregnancy and her son seems fine although she did have a difficult labour (unsure if thats connected) it concerns me coz i dont want to sit in the same room when she is smoking it in case theres damage to my baby. thanks for your insight :)
As far as I know there have not been any actual effects found for smoking weed. The literature says the only known effects are the same of that found for smoking cigarettes. Although it just cant be good for mum or baby. She needs to ensure that she is taking in the correct vitamins etc and I dont know how smoking weed effects these thing in your body.
Have a chat with her. Let her know that its a short period of her life where she is not he only on who is effected by what is put into her body. At the end of the day she is the only one that can make the decision of giving up. I hope for her baby's sake she does.
