what does this mean?

I'm 38 weeks exactly and ive been having period like cramping. On Thursday I went to the hospital because of these crampings. Turns out I was contracting so they checked me and I was 2cm dilated and that Monday I wasn't dilated at all. They sent me home an hour later because of no change but ever since I left I'm still having these pains. Could this mean I'll be going into labor anytime soon? I'm a first time mommy and my due date is April 27th.

You should try timing them. It could be labour itself, or call labour and delivery they can give you more of an idea of what to do next. If they become I think it's like 5 mins apart you should go in and get checked. You're considered full term so baby could come at anytime good luck!
