Gastric Diabetes

I just got a call from my Dr. Office that my glucose was high and I need to come back for the three hour test. They said it was 168. My question is what does that mean for me and the baby. If this test is positive for high glucose as well? What does High glucose cause during pregnancy. Im really worried now and I know absolutely nothing about Gastric diabetes. I have always had low blood sugar never high... please help 23 years old 28 weeks along

My dad is diabetic but I am hypoglycemic. So mine is always low or crashing I have never had to deal with high blood sugar and im terrified of needles so I really hope I do not have to get the insulin shots....

It could lead to a higher birth weight baby and elevates yours and your baby's chance of having diabetes after the pregnancy. My mom had it with both my younger sisters and had to use insulin injections for the remainder of her pregnancies to control her blood sugars. After her last pregnancy the diabetes never went away and she has now been a type 2 diabetic for 12 years.

Its gestational diabetes not gastric. And I didn't have it with either of mine but you will have to be careful of what you eat if you do have it they will explain it all to you
