who here has RH- blood type???

Just curiouse on your story! This is my first pregnancy I found out I had rh- blood type and withought any proof they sent me home with pain meds saying because of my blood type I'm gonna miscarry. I have been calling and calling my obgyn because I want proof that my baby is actually dead. I have not miscarried yet. But they are just assuming that I will because of my blood type. So FRUSTRATING! Any one else have this probablem? And what's your story/ journey with having this blood type?

I already changed obgyns. And finally got the second opinion. I am glad to announce my baby is just fine! My husband wants to take the picture of our healthy baby to that er doc and shove it in his face lol. I will definitely be writting that doc a nasty letter for getting me and my hubby so worked up over nothing!
THANK YOU ALL for your opinions, encouragement and story's.  :)

Oh yea, don't be afraid to ask your doctor if he/she has dealt with your type of pregnancy before, how long they been practicing, etc.  Mine had not and was her 1st year out of med school.

Most definitely get a second opinion!  The ER's are not always equipped to handle every problems and they also don't always know how to accurately read an ultrasound.  I'm glad to here you kept calling and schedule for one today.  I agree with why the pain meds?  Was it because they assumed you were miscarrying?

I hope you have been encouraged and hope everything goes well for you and the baby today!

ok, honestly you need a second opinion and fast. I am A- and I have had 3 now 4 pregnancies. I have 2 VERY healthy girls and only miscarried due to the fact I totaled my truck when I was roughly 8 weeks pregnant. my oldest is O-, miscarried, then my youngest is A+. I had a rohgam shot during both full pregnancies and only 1 afterwards due to her being a positive blood type and me being a negative. now when I miscarried I got that same shot too. I'm now on my 4th pregnancy and doing great so far and I'm a lil over 9 wks. I'd go get a second opinion. just bc your negative blood type don't mean your automatically going to miscarry. good luck though

I had the same issue with bleeding.  Beinging rh negative doesn't not automatically mean you are going to have a miscarriage. How far along are you ?? And did the er do any blood work ? That would be the only for sure way they would be able to tell if you were having a misscarrage or not. To see what your hcg levels are. Dont let them stress out. They cant predict if you would have a miscarriage or not

To the ladies who comment saying this is unbelievable. I no how unbelievable it is that doctors would assume and treat me this way. But there is nothing missing from my story. I had bleeding after I went no. 2 so I went to er. He gave me ultrasound but since I didn't have enough fluids in me he couldn't see anything. He did blood work and told me after he got my results that im rh- and I'm gonna miscarry. He sent me home with pain meds. I called my Obgyn and the nurse said there would be no point coming in because all they could do was give me pain meds. I have now called them at least five times today demanding they show me proof. So I now have an ultrasound apt at 1 45 today. I made this post halfe to vent at how retarded doctors are in Oregon and too here other ppls story's so I could have hope.

They only thing that being rh negative would be an issue for is if you and the baby's blood mix. And then your second baby could be at risk..if this is your fist baby which I assuming it is since you just found out you were rh negative then you have nothing to worry about

Thats not right. Im 30 weeks pregnant now and am rh negative.  You get a shot at 28 weeks and then possibly another one after you deliver depending on your babys blood type. There might be more to it if the doctor is telling you that and why would the doctor give you pain meds ?

I'm rh- and 17wks my doctor told me it's not really a concern until 20wks because the chances of blood mixing before then is so slim.  Get another dr!

I'm rh a negative and this is my second pregnancy a dr shouldn't just assume your Mis carrying unless you went in for bleeding/spotting but then if that's the case your dr should have gave you a shot called rogram a small dose if your early in your pregnancy then further in your pregnancy you need to get the bigger dose trust me I went through this with my first and now with my second baby and if anything just go the the emergency room they'll take care of you right away

I'm rh- and on my second pregnancy. My first born is perfectly healthy and is now 2 years old you just get the rhogram shot at 28 weeks right before delivery and a week after. But being rh- our chances of misscarriage are higher than what they like. If your doctor told you that then you need a new doctor asap try even a high risk doctor!

Your RH factor would have nothing to do with miscarrying especially in your first pregnancy. In subsequent pregnancies there would be a chance of miscarriage or problems but only after a certain point and only if you didn't get the Rhogam injection. I feel like there is a lot missing from this story.

I'm glad to here you ladies had healthy baby's! :)  and yes I did bleed once but I think it came from mybutt. Lol. But they did no test no ultrasound. Nothing to prove it! They just keep shrugging me off! Not a happy mama. But Im not giving up. I believe my baby is just fine and will continue to believe that until they give me proof. I'm not taking the pain meds. I haven't even went to pick them up from pharmacy yet. It's nice to hear other story's. Thank you ladies. :)

This is very odd to me that they just assume you will miscarry because of your blood? I'm rh - and 30 weeks pregnant with a perfectly healthy baby I have never heard of this... The only effect your negative blood type could have on the baby is if your baby has positive rh and you have some sort of accident that causes your blood to mix... They give you the rhogam vaccine in precaution to that between 28-30 weeks then again at birth. Very odd

I have rh negative blood and my doctor is giving me a shot at 28 weeks and after birth so the blood dont mix. I know people with the same blood and their babies come out healthy. And im 23 weeks and 2 days today.

I would get a second opinion. I miscarried my first because of my blood.  The second because of a ruptured fallopian tube. If you haven't actually miscarried I wouldn't take the pain meds unless you absolutely need them. It's not for sure that you will have a miscarriage. They could have been a bit more sensitive and not freaked you out. Anyways I would definitely get a second opinion! Oh yeah.. I had a completely healthy pregnancy after the two MC. You will just have to get a shot of rohgam.

Is this the only reason they are giving you? Seems there must be more to it. Have you had a fall or something which could caused yours and the babies blood to mix? I'm O- and birthed a perfectly healthy baby girl in December 2012 and am pregnant with no 2. Only precautions they took were to give me a shot of Anti D after 20 weeks and then and gain after birth.  I will have to have both again but otherwise just had normal appointments and care.

Look, my step mom has RH negative blood and had 4 kids.  Yes, it may cause some problems, but not with everyone.  Just be persistent and until they can actually prove your baby has no heartbeat.  You have to be pro-active.

I myself premature ruptured at 8 weeks with twins and all the doctors and experts swore I would not go more than 2 weeks before going into labor or getting an infection.  They all wanted me to abort.  God showed them, I carried them and delivered at 31 weeks.  Yes, my son that I ruptured with didn't live long due to not having enough fluid but I have a healthy 21 year son who did make it.  They only know what they have been taught and nothing more.  It is people like you and me that change the medical field.  Be encouraged and go with your gut.
