whooping cough in Texas?!

My Dr. recommended I get the shot & on the news this morning it said whooping cough is spreading throughout Texas. So Texas Mommas if you weren't thinking about getting it I'd reconsider.

Has anyone on here had the whooping cough shot & flu shot while pregnant & did they make you sick????
(shots sometimes make me sick.)

Just got both 2 days ago. My arms are still sore and very red and swollen around the injection site. (They said that's normal tho). I think it's a good idea to get and worth the few days with "dead arms" :)

Hayleighsmommy it was on my local news this morning.
& I heard its getting bad everywhere, & yeah I couldn't get it until I got to my third trimester my Dr said.

It is horrible here in Colorado they even now have commercials on whooping cough and the vaccine. The doctors here offer it to you once in the third trimester and inform you not to allow anyone around the baby that hasn't had it until the baby revives its vaccine. I can not see my sister little one until he is at least 28 days because I can't get the vaccine this early in my pregnacy.

i havent heard of whooping cough going around (im in fort worth) but i have heard of measles going around

thank for the responses I tried to get mine today & they were being all difficult & questioning why my ob/gyn would recommend I get it when I know people here get it so I know its fine, looks like I'll be calling my pcp on Monday which is what I should have done in the first place I just hate waiting at his office!

Here in the UK you get your whooping cough jag, but at the paediatric dose because it passes to baby, them baby gets it at its 1 month 2 month and 3 month jags. Im in Scotland. And there is whooping cough go round here too x

Good idea. Also make sure not to let people touch her or hold her unless you know they are vaccinated. Hac your s/o get one too.
