My first time getting braxton hicks was like that. I was curled up in a ball on the couch for hours and was nauseated...I was so scared that it was labor....and I was 21+2. I got checked a few days later at my appointment and was perfectly Fine and they said there were absolutely no signs of preterm labor. After drinking a big glass of water I felt much better....you might try that? I'm 21+6 now and get bh quite often
Braxton Hicks should not be painful!
Okay :) u have been great help to me thanks
It can really help to get a good sturdy pregnancy belt with wrap over velcro straps. They are pricey but they really do help. Also lots of pelvic floor and stomach exercises to help strengthen muscles for support. Good luck with it!
Thanks lisas9 :) strangely enough thats what my best friend told me she thought I had coming to think about it, defo something I need to bring up and get help for
@mommyoftwins07 god that sounds scary glad your okay
I just spoke with my mum told her what I was feeling and she doesnt seem to think its bracton hicks as its too early she thinks I have just over done it today and really feeling the blow
Yes you need physio if it is pgp. It does sound exactly the same as mine. I didn't have it in my first pregnancy but had it in my last two and this one. The doctor will need to refer you. The sooner you get help for it the better as it gets worse with the weight of the baby. It is manageable but there are certain movements you need to avoid like opening your legs too far. They also need to be aware of it when you give birth as certain positions for delivery can cause longterm damage, but that can be easily avoided if they are aware of it. Pgp is pelvic girdle pain, where your pelvis becomes unstable. It doesn't have any effect on the baby but can cause lots of pain for you.
I had stomach tightening a week ago, thought it was braxton hicks... Took a bath, hour later I headed to labor and delivery(i'm 26 weeks), they put me on monitors, I was contracting within minutes of arriving they started to hurt, they weren't opening my.cervix luckily but they were full blown contractions, they put me on an iv, did an ultrasound, gave me a pain shot and then a shot to stop the contractions, then monitored my contractions for 4 hours, cause they were constant, I couldn't feel.alot of them of but the monitor was picking them up and my stomach showed them.
What pgp? U can totally tell am a first timer ay lol, I havent seen anyone no but I have a midwife appointment on thursday and my best friend keeps reminding me to tell the midwife then as she thinks I need to get some physo
Have you seen anyone for the pelvic and hip pains? It sounds like you have pgp like me. They are very sore and mine gets really weak on one side after sitting to the point of them not being able to take my weight for a few minutes
Thanks lisas9 what u just described like pulling pains along with tightening is more along the lines of what am experiencing its not like period cramps so perhasps it is ligaments being pulled at the same time, I have had trouble with pelvic pains, hip pains quite alot already as I lost use of my legs one time they became wobbly and I couldnt walk
Braxton hicks shouldn't hurt, although when I've had them I have had sharp pulling pains at the same time which is possibly the ligaments stretching. Labour pains feel more like cramps and build up then go away again and last upto a minute. If you are worried then call the hospital for advice. It sounds normal to me though as I experienced similar pains at around 24 weeks which literally stopped me in my tracks and I couldn't walk while having them. As you have described the pains as sharp it doesn't sound like labour but everyone experiences them differently. If it is contractions then the hospital can stop them if you get there soon enough. It is always better to be safe and call the hospital, especially as Im presuming your a ftm and early on.
Does where the baby sits in the uterus determine weather it is sore or not because my latesr scan two days ago showed my little girl buried into my bladder on the right hand side, so thats how low down she is
They havent been to strong just my stomachs felt so tight since its unbearable, and I wouldnt say I could time it because its not a coming and going pain its just there
They can be painful. Its just not often that they are.
Braxton Hicks contractions are not painful they just tighten ur uterus
U could be having labor contractions have you called your doc or midwife? They can probley stop labor if that's what's going on...drink a lot of water and stay off ur feet, but call and let them know what's going on..good luck
Have you tried timing them? It sounds like braxton hicks but mine werent really that painful. If they dont stop soon Id call l&d to find out from them.
I seriously need some girls to comment on this I scared myself thinking I was starting labour the minute I felt these pains
