why the pregnancy stopped????

I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks, when they u/s me, the baby don't show movement and no heart beat..

I should only take the prometrium for first 12 weeks, but my OB told me to continued the left pills, they last till my 15&1/2weeks and on that same day we heard my baby's heart's beating..

what do you think is the reason why my pregnancy stopped at above said weeks. is it bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..

The progesterone is given until 12weeks. After that is not necessary cause the placenta has taken over. So it was inutil to take it until 15weeks. I don't think it stopped because of the prometrium, actually it helps maintein the pregnancy. I had a m/c at 7 1/2 weeks after has seen the heartbeat and everything was ok.You should do some tests on the embryo to see what is the reason it stopped growing. I'm sorry for your loss. If you are still confused, your doctor should speak with you at your 6-week followup appointment. Ask questions, get answers. Sometimes these things happen without a reason, unfortunately. I hope you get the information you're looking for!
