worried

I keep reading that I should have been taking folic acid prior to conception but I didn't start taking it *prenantal vitamins w/ 800 mg of folic acid) until I took the at home pregnancy test at 5w and 4 days should I be scared of some birth defects.

That's mostly of you're trying to conceive, it's suppose to help. But honestly even after finding out I was pregnant I've been horrible at remember to take my prenatals and my baby is fine. It's mostly just giving the extra nutrients you aren't getting in your diet to help your baby grow.

I had the same worries until I had an ultrasound that confirmed everything was okay. But just think about all the people who don't know they're pregnant for even longer than that, and their babies turn out fine. :)

I only started taking my vitamins 3 months into my pregnancy and my Dr said its totally fine. I should just keep on taking them now and everything will be okey

I took folic acid every day when I was trying to conceive last year, and that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage at 9/10 weeks. So no matter how 'prepared' you are prior to getting pregnant, nothing is foolproof. Just do what you can now to be healthy and everything will go as god intends :)

You shouldn't worry because there's nothing you can do to change the past. However take folic acid now in a liquid sublingual. It's completely necessary.  Also b-12.
