Hi and sorry the late reply. The answer to your concerns is to have a biopsey.
Are you a Doctor or just giving your opinion? Sounds like to me your not a Doctor. A Doctor would have given a more detailed answer to the question.
You must take cancer out of the equation and thats done with a biopsey. I had prostate cancer so am not speaking as a doctor but a survivor. Im sure your just fine but this it the best way to find out.
Prostate cancer has no symptoms until the growth comes in contact with nerves and causes a pinching.
I am.glad you are a survivor and wish you all the luck in the world to continue surviving from PC and prey I am as lucky if I do have PC ... But here is my take on all this .... A biopsy has major side effects that can lead to a lifetime of misery and end up not even having PC ... What I would prefer to have done in procedures is to eliminate all other possible Prostate conditions before going into such a invasive procedure that does have the remote chance of killing from blood poisoning and spreading PC into the blood.stream by needle trackimg. It can cause a lifetime of pain or bladder and prostate problems.
Calcicifcation of the prostate can cause PSA to raise to high numbers and also cause Prostatitis and a hatd prostate.
Sorry but somehow I posted before finishing ....... For example ... my proststae has been hard for the last 6 years and PSA rising with no symptoms at all. I do know that PC symptoms may not show up until the cancer spreads outside the postate. But with a high psa like I have and a hard prostate all other problems that could cause high psa and hard prostate should be eliminated before a biopsy and if a PC was a possibity with such a high psa then a bone scan should be done to see if the PC may.have spread already and if so begin treatments instead of waiting for a biopsy to come back. If all other test come back negative thsen a biopsy should be scheduled if no other means of prostate cancer detection is available. Right now in Boston they are using T3 MRI to detect prrostate cancer and also in California so there are modern day ways.of detecting PC other then a.biopsy .... A normal color doppler ultra sound can see major problems in the prostate and eve show.signs of prostate cancer as well as the exeact location in the prostate it just cannot tell what type cancer it is .... I am not a doctor and do of a prostate not claim to know more then a doctor but I have researched the prostate and all the problems of a prostate for the last 6 years and researched ways of prostate detection ... The way I see it is this is my body and if a biopsy scares me to haave it done then other procedures should be insituted instead of saying biopsy is the only way ....
Hi again, a biopsey has no adverse side effects, my self and everyone that i know that had it are just fine. Its not a big deal. Your high psa most assuridly is from your calcium but better to eliminate it from the equation. Detecting cancer though other methods does work but if cancer is there, a biopsey can tell which type it is and this is the most important part. Its called the Gleason score.
This is some of he reason I am very leary about a biopsy. I.had 3 friends my age have biopsy of the prostate. Derick had prostate cancer spread which caused tumors elsewhere in his body, and also had a tumor where the needle went in to.get samples. Jerry got blood poisoning and.had to be hospitalized for almost a month with severe pain amd bleeding. Al is still having pain in his abodmin and perinium also dealing with major infection from needle.tracking andu possible matastic problems. So I know.first hand wjat can happen from a biopsy. These friends had biopsies last year ..... The percentage of these things happening is high but they do happen.as you read above. This is cause for major alarm. The doctors tell you you pronably will not have any problems but cannot guarantee that. A biopsy is a dangerous move. The needle.goes.through your rectum.wall which is highly filled.with bacteria into the prostate amd.when the needle.is.withdawn back through the retum wall with a core containing cancer it can get into your blood and retum wall. Doctors do not tell patients all the details and facts
just to let you know .... I know doctors tell you to flush out the retum witn an enima and give antibiotics to fight any possible infection but that always does not help and is risky
Thats not true that the bipsey can release the cells outside the prostrate. Ive heard this before and if this was possible the AAA would have a big alert to this possibility.
I had a biopsy and cancer and it was not release outside my prostate. But thats up to you.
Best to have it done in a hospital where you would be put under so the doc can do a good search.
I really hate to tell you this but it true ... how do you think my friends ended up with their problems. I would suggest you do a little more research on the subject of needle tracking from a prostate biopsy. It is documented by universities and medical doctors as well as the center for prostate research if I remember the name right. If you go on you tube and enter non invasive procedures for prostate cancer detection or prostaye cancer biopsy needle tracking and you see videos fron universities and prostate research and other different type entries. Any doctor of urology will also tell you it is possible but rarely happens which is not the all together the truth ..I have been researching this and other prostate information for 6 plus years. But enough said ... in order for you to believe it is true and does happen in exampley 3 groends and their are other stories online of needle tracki.g mastastsis ... You van call me if you like to discuss the subject ... 717-332-1247 ...
I think the risk of having the cancer grow and spread is out weighed by the rare chance of needle tracking. If this was a big issue, more and more men would have had the cancer spread from the biopsey and its just not happening.
The real issue is to the type of cancer (gleason score). Ifs its a slow growing cancer and a persons 65 years of age, they would die of other natural causes before the cancer becomes an issue but if the cancer is fast growing it needs to be confirmed. So if you avoid confirming the type what options are left?
Yes I know all.about what your saying and I KNOW what risk.I am.taking but when you have 2 or 3 friends get needle.tracking, each one by a different doctor, and 1 almost dying from blood infection it makess.you think twice. I.am more afraid of the biopsy needle tracking then I.am.of the cancer. Today I.had a bone scan to see if prostate cancer has spread to the bones if I have PC. I'll get the results Monday. Like.I.said before, procedure should.be eliminate all the other possible prostate issues that can cause a high psa and.hard prostate first before having such a dangerous invasive biopsy done. First off with a high psa and hard prostate a bone.scan should be done.to see if cancer has gone.to.the bones first. This gives time to.eliminate all other possible prostate issues if no cancer is found in the bones. If prostate cancer is found in the bonss then have a color doppler sonagram.ultra sound.done to locate the possible cancered areas imstead of having to.stick the prostate 12 to 30 times trying to locate the cancer. Besides, modern medicine has now found a way to detect PC without invasibe biopsies. Biopsies have become a thing of the past and not needed except for.the possibity of discovery of the type of PC. Doctors and hospitals have to catch up to the modern times. As I.said before if a hard prostate and increasing psa are evident then a ultra sound should be performed.to see if the prostate is.calcified. Calcification can cause prostatitis and prostatitis can come in a form.with no.symptoms. I hope I.do not have PC but I probably do. I have learned a lot to.late but perhaps I may be lucky and only have calcification of the prostate. After all it has bee. 6 years now having a hard prostate and rising psa with no symptoms. Calcium is normal in blood test. PC Bone cancer increases calcium numbers in the blood.
I appeciate your concern but I have made my choices and I have to live with them no matter how they turn out. It does scare me that I may have PC and if I do I pray I.survive.

Got my bone scan results back yesterday ... normal, no issues. Now after almost 7 years with a hard prostate, increasing psa and no symptoms no sign of PC bone matastasis ....
