My father recently had his prostate cancer surgery. After the hospital sent him home he was experiencing other problems where urine wasn't only exiting through the penis but the anus as well. There might have been other problems but I'm not too sure since I was away at college during this event. When he went back to the doctor they found that he had a hole in his bladder and intestine. The doctors used tubes to suck out waste that wasn't going to the right place and he ended up getting a colostomy.
I was wondering if this was a huge error/malpractice on the doctors' part? Was it their fault that he ended up having openings in his intestine and bladder during the prostate procedure. They also sent him home even though he wasn't okay, but would they have been able to detect the intestine/bladder before he left the hospital to go home?
