Prostate Cancer? Elevated PSA blood in urine

Anybody familiar with an elevated PSA and blood/blood clots in urine? My father, 83, has had the blood clots for the past 5 days or so. His family physician is sending him to a urologist tomorrow and says his PSA test came back elevated, didnt give me the number, but wish now i had asked. His brother had prostate cancer and died at about 77 years. I was very concerned from the beginning because he has had no pain. I knew with a bladder/urinary infection he would feel ill. Comments??

Thank you. I forgot to mention he has been taking terazosin for at least 3 years I believe for an enlarged prostate/urination problems. So this may very well be the issue. I am anxious to see what the doctor says tomorrow.

Your father likely has an enlarged prostate which may be benign. Bleeding could occur due to obstruction due to the enlargement, this may be painless as it occurs while straining to void. It may also occur if there is an underlying malignancy. Discuss your concerns with the urologist.
